About the job

The Cardiology Department, Aalborg University Hospital seeks a dedicated and professionally ambitious senior physician for our cardiology Fast Track team.

Are you passionate about the cardiology specialty, acute diagnostics and treatment of heart patients, and would you like to contribute to the development of good and coherent patient pathways with a particular focus on triage/visitation, risk assessment and early treatment of acute heart patients, then you are the one we are looking for.

The position is desired to be filled on 1 January 2027 or by arrangement.

The work will include triage, reception and treatment of patients with suspected acute heart disease in the department's cardiology Fast Track function, where rapid diagnostics, qualified clinical decision-making and efficient triage are crucial for the good patient pathway.

The work will also include other aspects of the overall cardiology specialty with ward rounds and outpatient functions, and, by agreement, the possibility to participate in the department's 24/7 cardiology on-call duty.

There will be good opportunities to combine the clinical role with research, quality development and implementation of new diagnostic and treatment initiatives within acute cardiology.

Participation in teaching and supervision of medical students, junior doctors and other staff groups is expected.

Aalborg University Hospital has outpatient functions on three sites (Aalborg, Thisted and Hobro). The majority of the function and working hours will take place at the Aalborg site.

We offer

  • An exciting consultant position with a central role in the reception, diagnostics and treatment of acute heart patients.
  • Opportunity to shape and develop the department's cardiology Fast Track function and the future acute patient pathways in close collaboration with the Fast Track responsible consultant and the department's other colleagues.
  • A clinical daily life with great professional variation and engagement with many complex cardiology issues.
  • A professionally stimulating environment with competent and committed colleagues and good opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Opportunity to combine clinical work with research, teaching and quality development within acute cardiology.
  • Good opportunities for professional development and to strengthen an independent research profile within acute cardiology.

We are looking for

  • A specialist in internal medicine: cardiology with solid clinical experience in acute cardiology diagnostics and treatment, including acute coronary syndrome, arrhythmias, heart failure and valvular heart disease.
  • A colleague with experience or particular interest in triage/visitation and reception of acute heart patients and in developing good and coherent patient pathways.
  • A specialist with strong competencies in clinical decision-making, risk assessment and prioritization of patient pathways.
  • A employee who thrives in a function with high activity, short decision paths and close interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • A colleague with interest in research within acute cardiology and preferably documented research experience.
  • A specialist who has experience with or an interest in teaching, supervision and competence development of students and training doctors.
  • A colleague who wants to contribute to quality development, implementation of new clinical workflows and the professional development of the acute cardiology patient pathway.
  • A employee who is flexible and collaborative and keen to participate in teams across disciplines and the cardiology specialty.
