About the job
Do you want to lead a highly specialized department of breast imaging? Are you a motivating people leader who can create followers, collaboration and well-being? And can you lead the department and its staff through the changes that follow from the healthcare reform?
The Department of Breast Imaging is seeking a chief radiographer who easily establishes and maintains stable and smooth collaborative relationships. Someone who works at a high professional level and who has visions for the department's continued development.
Together with the chief physician, you will handle the strategic, administrative, financial, professional and personnel leadership of the department. You will join the overall hospital management, which has close collaboration with the executive management, the other hospitals and municipalities.
The department works purposefully to plan the best elective patient pathways with patient safety, satisfaction and quality as guiding principles, and as chief radiographer you must be able to show the way, gain support, inspire and motivate all professional groups across the department.
Together with the chief physician you are responsible for ensuring that the breast cancer pathway times are adhered to. And at the same time, in connection with the establishment of Region Østdanmark on 1 January 2027, you will be responsible for ensuring that the department is prepared to meet the expectations and requirements that arise when we must solve tasks for the large community in a unified eastern Danish health system.
As chief radiographer you must therefore have both a strategic view that reaches beyond your own hospital and a sharp eye for daily operations management. This means that you must have the abilities and willingness for change management, which in the future will become a cornerstone of the leadership role.
In addition you must be able to support and expand the department's research environment, just as you will largely work with education and competence development of the staff, because we believe that a focus on education and a good working environment creates the best conditions for our patients.
About the department
The Department of Breast Imaging is based in renovated, nice premises with completely new equipment at Gentofte Hospital.
The department is the region's only mammoradiological unit, and patients are referred from the entire Capital Region of Denmark. In the department, patients with symptoms of breast diseases and patients in follow-up in a treatment course are examined, as well as women recalled for investigation from the breast cancer screening program. The department has responsibility for the care pathway until patients are investigated and either referred to the Department of Breast Surgery or completed in the department.
The department is also responsible for managing the regional breast cancer screening program. The department is linked to five regional breast cancer screening clinics at Hillerød, Hvidovre, Bornholm, Bispebjerg and Gentofte hospitals. The screening secretariat is located on Bornholm. The target population for the screening program is about 220,000 women aged 50-69 and about 8,500 women operated for breast cancer, who continue in the screening program until they turn 79.
The department has a large secretariat where management sits, as well as triage nurses, medical secretaries and IT system administrators. Because the department holds great expertise, staff and visitors from other regions regularly come to seek inspiration, attend conferences or hold meetings. The department also prioritizes research activity and has a PhD student.
The department has close collaboration in the multidisciplinary team with breast surgeons, oncologists and pathologists, from several sites in the region.
