Church Sexton for Stengård Church

Are you the type who sees what needs to be done – and gets it done?

Stengård Church is seeking a dedicated church sexton with as soon as possible starting date. We are a vibrant and active church with many services, church sacraments, events and activities. As a church sexton you will have a varied workday with independent tasks and close collaboration with the rest of the church staff, including another sexton, a sacristan and a daily manager.

We are looking for someone who

• is approachable and service-minded towards the church's users and guests
• takes responsibility and works independently – sees what needs to be done, takes initiative and gets things done, while working within agreed frameworks and decisions
• can prioritise and structure tasks and maintain an overview
• is a good team member who listens, communicates openly and contributes constructively
• is flexible with regard to working hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

It is an advantage if you have experience from service-oriented work and have practical/hands-on experience. Experience as a church sexton is not a requirement. The most important is that you are responsible, practically oriented and eager to make things work. A driving licence and access to a car are an advantage.

Your tasks

• church service duties during worship services and church sacraments
• practical preparation and cleanup for services and events
• cleaning and maintenance of the church and associated buildings
• servicing at events and meetings
• practical and minor handyman tasks as well as care of outdoor areas, including gardening
• contact with users of the church premises and craftsmen
• purchasing groceries and consumables.

About the position

The position is full-time with starting date as soon as possible. The employment is covered by the applicable collective agreement and organizational agreement for church sextons. Current civil servant church sextons have the right to continue as civil servants.

Salary is negotiated between the parish council and the Danish Church Sexton Association within the range 324,667 - 408,841 DKK per year, depending on qualifications and experience. There is a on-call commitment to the position, and the on-call allowance amounts to 33,231 DKK per year. In addition, there is an OK18 allowance of 1,401 DKK per year. All the above amounts are at the level as of 1 August 2026 for full-time employment (37 hours per week). In addition, there is a pension contribution of 15%.

There is a 3-month trial period, and a background check is obtained. If you have not completed the mandatory 5-week church sexton training, it must be completed within 2 years after the start of employment.
