About the job
Here you get a genuine clinical specialty function with mandate close to practice and a unique platform for influence and direction-setting.
At the forensic psychiatric unit D1 we are looking for a clinical nurse specialist (CNS), who will work closely with the clinic and help strengthen nursing quality in longer and complex patient pathways.
The position is primarily day shifts on weekdays and without fixed weekend rotation or with every fourth weekend in DV. However, there may be occasional evening shifts and shifts related to holidays.
As a clinical nurse specialist you will be a central professional sparring partner for staff and management. You will have a clear role in qualifying and developing the nursing professional direction at D1 – not from a distance from the clinic, but close to patient pathways, team collaboration and daily practice. The position will be an 80-20 role as some clinical proximity and closeness in colleagues' everyday life is essential for the “success” of the position.
About Section D1
D1 is a closed ward with 15 beds for exclusively female forensic psychiatric patients. The average length of stay is 5 years. This provides an opportunity to build stable relationships and work targeted with treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of new criminality.
We meet people in complex life situations, where serious mental illness, legal frameworks, substance abuse, cognitive difficulties and social challenges are often closely linked. Patients have detention and treatment orders and are primarily diagnosed within the schizophrenia spectrum.
We work recovery-oriented with focus on relational safety, clear structure and involvement of the patient in their own treatment and influence on daily life in D1. In practice we work systematically with risk assessment, prevention of violence and threats, daily meetings, fixed structures and supervision. As CNS you will also have your own professional teaching forum a couple of times a week.
Our latest wellbeing survey shows high job satisfaction and a strong collaborative environment. We have a solid core of experienced staff supplemented by new, motivated colleagues, which creates both stability and professional development.
Why are we seeking a clinical nurse specialist?
D1 is an evolving department. We have many skilled staff, good treatment alliances with the patients and a clearly newly implemented organization of structure in nursing (from spring 2026) and daily life. At the same time we work with complex patient pathways, where professional direction, consistent and quality-based practice, and continuous learning are essential.
You should help ensure that we not only have good professional intentions but also translate them into action in daily life. It’s about documentation, clinical assessments, risk assessment, psychoeducation, patient involvement, de-escalation, joint agreements and learning in practice.
The department expects the position as the nearest collaborators, namely Chief Nurse, assistant ward manager, to be in place by 01.12.26 just as the department's new Chief Medical Officer takes effect 01.12.26. Thus a new unique partnership will be a reality for CNS from day 1.
Your role as clinical nurse specialist
You will be a visible and accessible professional resource in daily life. You should be able to contribute with professional sparring in complex clinical problems, ask the right questions, help create overview and support that decisions are translated and maintained in practice.
Your tasks will include among others to
- Set direction for the nursing professional development in collaboration with ward management.
- Be a professional sparring partner for nurses, social and health care assistants and other colleagues.
- Support competence development through guidance, feedback, companionship and practice-oriented teaching.
- Link theory, evidence and clinical experience to concrete patient pathways.
- Strengthen the quality of documentation, evaluation and follow-up on the nursing professional efforts.
- Work with audits, data and quality follow-up in a way that can be used in practice.
- Contribute to the implementation of clinical guidelines, joint agreements and new professional initiatives.
- Plan and facilitate professional reflections, theme days and development initiatives.
- Participate in relevant CNS networks, ERFA forums and professional environments across the center and in cooperation with the CNS in the staff, raise and facilitate tasks for the Organization, e.g. teaching, implementations, supervision for Specialist Education students.
- Bring in knowledge from outside and translate it into concrete improvements at D1.
You will not have the responsibility to “raise the professionalism” alone. That responsibility lies with us as a whole management and staff group. But you will have an important role in helping us keep direction, create learning and make our joint practice even stronger.
Who are you?
You are an experienced psychiatric nurse and motivated to develop practice together with others.
You have a master's or specialized master’s education – or are in progress with one or wish to start under an education agreement. If you have specialized training in psychiatric nursing, solid clinical experience and ambition for further education, we would also like to hear from you.
We emphasize that you
- Have solid clinical experience from psychiatry.
- Can work systematically without losing sight of the relationship.
- Can communicate knowledge clearly, concretely and applicable in a clinical everyday life.
- Thrive with teaching, guiding and giving feedback close to practice.
- Can follow up and hold on to joint professional agreements in a proper manner.
- Are curious about quality, data, documentation and implementation.
- Can be a clear and accessible sparring partner for both colleagues and management.
- Contribute to a professional environment characterized by respect, responsibility and cooperation.
You do not need to have all the solutions. But you should want to be part of finding them together with us.
We offer
- A clinical specialist function with real influence on practice.
- Close collaboration with upcoming Chief Nurse and assistant ward manager on D1’s professional direction.
- A ward with high job satisfaction, strong collaboration and clear structures.
- Opportunity to work practically with quality, learning and implementation.
- Access to relevant CNS networks, ERFA forums and professional environments across the center.
- Opportunity for supervision, relevant courses, conferences and competence development.
- A job in the health building of 2022 close to nature by Roskilde Fjord.
- An department where there is a need for both professional weight, patience, humor and integrity.
