Club Tårnby Vest seeks music pedagogue – 25 to 34 hours

Klub Tårnby Vest is seeking an engaged music educator who wants to use music as a path to community, creative expression, formation and healthy relationships.

Klub Tårnby Vest is a leisure and youth club under Ung Tårnby, which is the collective term for the clubs and the Youth School in Tårnby Municipality.

The leisure club is normed to about 200 children from 4th to 6th grade, while the youth club is visited by young people from 7th grade up to 18 years old.

Klub Tårnby Vest works closely with the Munken leisure club. The two clubs share the same manager and deputy and cooperate across children, youths, activities and daily club operations. Together the two clubs operate under the name Klub Vestamager.

Klub Tårnby Vests children attend the nearby Skelgårdsskolen, while the youth club's young people come from the entire Vestamager area.

We have just had a pedagogical day. One thing most staff highlighted was that we have a really good work environment, cooperation and a positive adult community at Klub Vestamager.

We are looking for you who can do something with music – and people

We are looking for an educator who has music as their particular interest and competence , and who wants to make music a natural part of the club's everyday life.

You would very much like to play an instrument, such as drums, guitar, bass or keyboard, all of which are instruments we already use in music. Therefore we would like you to be able to teach children to use instruments in general. We have 2 editing programs running on a newer Apple machine. The most important is that you want to share your passion with children and young people and create settings where they themselves gain the courage to try their hands at music.

You do not need to be a professional musician. Instead you should be prepared to

• create music activities where children and young people can participate regardless of level
• inspire children and young people to explore their own musical interests
• use music as a way to build communities and relationships
• initiate activities such as e.g. bands, ensemble playing, songwriting, music production, DJ, concerts or other creative music projects
• be curious about the youths' music and meet them where their interests are
• be involved in developing the club's music environment and put your own mark on it. (our former music educator has created a level system that is really good for the children. It starts from the individual instrument and captures the children's continued interest)

Guidelines for you as a music educator

Although music is your special profile, you are first and foremost an educator .

We focus on building relationships between the children and strengthening their social and individual skills. We work, among other things, with adult-initiated activities, digital literacy, the use of the area around the club, body and movement, music and theatre.

It is crucial that you are a present adult who understands the importance of being seen and has a good capacity for mentalization.

We also expect you to have good energy and a desire to be an active part of the house. You contribute ideas, but also help to carry our shared ideas and tasks into life.

Therefore you should be able to hear yourself say

“I will do that.”

A club with a good local environment, with good opportunities for outdoor activities and trips.

You will become part of a dedicated staff, where there is room for ideas, initiative and creativity. We have a really lovely building and a culture where experimentation happens – and where ideas can quickly be turned into action.

With us you will have the opportunity to greatly influence daily life and the development of the club. You will be part of a process where we together define what kind of club we want to be going forward.

And we would very much like you to help define what place music should have in the club.

Working hours

The leisure club opens Monday-Thursday from 13:30 to 17:30 and Friday until 17:00.

The youth club is open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 18:00-22:00. The junior club for 7th grade opens Thursday from 18:00 to 21:30.

It is expected that you have one fixed youth club shift per week .

In addition there is supporting teaching at Skelgårdsskolen before the leisure club opens – currently about 4.5 hours per week.

The position is on 25 to 34 hours per week, by agreement and your preference .
