About the job

Faxe Municipality seeks a committee secretary for the children and youth area

Do you want to be close to the decisions that make a difference for children, young people and their families and networks?

Do you have strong relational skills, political acumen and a sense for both the whole and the details? Can you create progress in complex processes, build bridges between politics, administration and practice – and do you thrive with many balls in the air? Then it might be you we are looking for.

We are looking for a skilled and committed committee secretary for our cross-cutting consultant unit in the Center for Children, Youth & Families in Faxe Municipality. With us you get a central role in the political support of the children and youth area and you also become part of a wide range of development and operations tasks across day care, school, family and PPR.

It is a position for someone who is motivated by being close to both strategic decisions and professional realities – and who can make things happen. You will have a central role in the political support

Your main task will be to coordinate and quality-assure the production of political cases for the Children & Learning Committee and the Family Committee.

You will become the anchor of the process from the first idea or professional input to the finished political case. You must be able to keep track of deadlines, ensure quality and, together with heads of profession, center director and case writers, get all pieces to fall into place.

You will therefore work closely with

  • the center director and the welfare director and the center’s heads and managers
  • consultants and professional staff across the 0-18-year area
  • the political committees and politicians.

In other words, you will have a role where relationships, coordination, quality and political understanding go hand in hand.

Your tasks

Your everyday life will be varied, and among other things you will coordinate, prepare and quality-assure political agendas and minutes for our two policy committees – the Committee for Children & Learning and the Family Committee.

You are analytically strong and communicate well both orally and in writing – including the ability to translate complex material into concrete and usable knowledge for others.

In addition to that

  • you will be the coordinator of the production of political items for the policy committees, the Finance Committee and the Council
  • prepare meeting materials and coordinate the practical arrangements around the political meetings
  • participate as secretary at meetings in the political committees, which take place in the evenings
  • support the good dialog and collaboration between politicians, management and professional staff
  • prepare political case submissions and answers to politician questions
  • prepare reports and analyses for the political level
  • coordinate meetings, theme days and political events
  • be part of cross-cutting collaboration fora

You must be prepared that tasks do not always come in a neat order. Sometimes it is you who must create structure, gather the threads and ensure the process reaches a safe conclusion.

You will be part of a center that is in the middle of an ambitious development across all professional areas. The Center for Children, Youth & Families works from a shared view of children and youth, where we trust that all children and young people have resources and competences, and that they develop best in meaningful communities and safe learning environments.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to this development by helping to create coherence across professions and organizational levels. As a committee secretary you will participate in political meetings at most once a month. The meetings are usually held at the end of the workday and will therefore sometimes fall outside normal working hours.

About you

We want a proactive and relationship-driven committee secretary who thrives in a politically managed organization with many balls in the air and often complex agendas and initiatives that must be translated into meaningful practice for citizens.

We place particular emphasis on the following

  • work in a structured way and have an eye for both details and the big picture
  • have experience with case submissions to management and political level
  • can navigate safely at different levels in an organization
  • have strong collaboration skills and meet others with curiosity and a positive attitude
  • can work independently and be a strong team player
  • are proactive and good at creating overview – even when deadlines are tight
  • can translate between practice, administration and political level
  • can quickly get up to speed on new professional areas and complex issues
  • have knowledge of legislation in the 0-18-year area as well as the Administration Act and Public Administration Act
  • are curious, service-minded and proactive.

Perhaps you have several years of experience as a committee secretary. Perhaps you are a former manager, academic, consultant or professional with strong coordinating and political support skills. The most important thing is that you can see yourself in the role and want to make a difference.

About us

  • You will become part of a strong professional community in the cross-cutting consultant unit, which consists of 11 skilled consultants and lawyers.
  • We work with development and operational tasks, political support, legal questions and management support across the Center for Children, Youth & Families.
  • We have a high ceiling, help each other and spar about tasks. We work across and across and tailor collaborations according to the task.

In Faxe Municipality we are a large community consisting of about 38,000 residents and 2,550 employees. You will become part of a large organization where many professional groups cooperate to create the best offers, opportunities and results within welfare areas, business, infrastructure, education, volunteering – and everything that comes with “the whole life.” We are happy to collaborate across professional boundaries internally and with citizens and civil society externally.

We are also a municipality where we insist on having workplaces where employees and managers thrive and have a shared understanding that we are each other’s working environment and that focus on collaboration and strong work communities is the key to ensuring both well-being and joy but also high productivity among employees and managers.

The Center for Children, Youth & Families consists of

  • Day care and kindergartens
  • The municipality's schools and after-school care (SFOs)
  • The family area
  • Youth school/Youth Faxe
  • Interdisciplinary competence center
  • Dental care
  • Central staff, including a common administration and a cross-cutting consultant unit
  • The center employs approximately 1,100 people in total.

You can explore the entire administrative organization of Faxe Municipality on the Faxe Municipality website as well as see the organization of the Center for Children, Youth & Families on the municipality’s website HERE.
