About the job

We are seeking a new colleague who wants to help build the overall communications function for the Novo Nordisk Foundation's Initiative for Vaccines and Immunity (NIVI) with a start date of 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The position is a split role between NIVI Research Center (NIVI-R) at the University of Copenhagen and NIVI Development (NIVI-D), and you will therefore work at the intersection of university research, innovation and vaccine development.

We are looking for a person who can think holistically while also producing content themselves. Our communications efforts are still under development, and you will have primary responsibility for driving and developing NIVI’s visibility, storytelling and communication channels.

In particular in the coming period there will be focus on three highly prioritized tasks

  • Further development and operation of NIVI’s websites
  • Planning and production of content for LinkedIn as our primary external channel
  • Establishment and operation of newsletters for internal and external stakeholders, including Novo Nordisk Fonden, the University of Copenhagen and partner organisations

The position entails a high degree of independence and close collaboration with management, researchers, administrative staff and external partners.

Responsibilities

Your tasks will vary over time and as the communications effort consolidates. We need broad competence and, even more importantly: the enthusiasm and courage to take NIVI’s communications to the next level. Below we have listed some central tasks as they look right now.

  • Development and implementation of NIVI’s communications across NIVI-R and NIVI-D
  • Responsibility for content, structure and ongoing development of NIVI’s websites
  • Planning, production and publication of content on LinkedIn with focus on recruitment, branding and research communication
  • Drafting and dispatching newsletters to internal and external audiences
  • Research communication, including news, profiles, cases and dissemination of research results
  • Internal communication and contribution to building a shared identity across NIVI-R and NIVI-D
  • Communication in connection with seminars, workshops, visits and other events
  • Cross-departmental collaboration with Copenhagen University’s other communications efforts, networks, etc., as well as any relevant external vendors and student assistants

About you

We place emphasis on the following: you

  • Have experience with communications in a knowledge organization, research institution, public organization or similar environment
  • Are a strong writer and can convey complex topics clearly and precisely in both Danish and English – and are not afraid to take a good photo to strengthen the written communication
  • Have solid, practical experience with web editing, social media and newsletters and can independently drive and develop these channels
  • Have experience in developing communications plans, defining goals and prioritising communications efforts and can translate them into concrete content and activities
  • Have experience with web and communications systems as well as digital platforms; knowledge of relevant systems is a plus
  • Work in a structured manner and can drive tasks independently from idea to finished product
  • Have an eye for both detail and the larger strategic context

We expect

You are proactive, curious and good at building relationships across disciplines. You are motivated by translating complex issues into communications that engage researchers, partners, decision-makers and potential employees.

You must be able to thrive in an organization under development, where there is a short path from idea to action, and where people often help each other across functions.

We offer

You will play a central role in building a new and ambitious research initiative with great societal impact.

  • An exciting and developing position with great influence on NIVI’s communications
  • Close collaboration with leadership, researchers and external partners
  • Opportunity to build and shape the communications function from an early stage
  • An international research and innovation environment with high ambitions
  • A varied daily life with both strategic and operational tasks
  • Flexibility and opportunities for professional development

Background

Novo Nordisk Foundation Initiative for Vaccines and Immunity (NIVI) is established to revolutionize and accelerate the development of vaccines in Denmark by bridging academic research and industrial innovation.

  • NIVI Research Center (NIVI-R): a research center anchored at the University of Copenhagen, Department of Immunology and Microbiology.
  • NIVI Development (NIVI-D): a company focused on translational research and moving research into new vaccine candidates.

Salary and employment terms

The position is a full-time appointment distributed between NIVI Research Center at the University of Copenhagen (25.9 hours per week) and NIVI Development (11.1 hours per week). In practice, the position functions as a single role, where you become part of the administrative support for NIVI and have a cross-cutting role with tasks across both NIVI-R and NIVI-D.

Salary and employment terms will be in accordance with the Circular on the state agreement for academics between the Ministry of Finance and Akademikerne or the Circular on the journalists’ agreement for state service between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Union of Journalists. There will be opportunities for negotiation of supplements based on qualifications. You can read more about salary levels in the state at www.loenoverblik.dk .
