About the job

A LITTLE ABOUT ME JOB DESCRIPTION
The job is to accompany Jan in his daily life at work and help him through the day.
Working hours are every weekday from 08:00 to 15:00.
The helper we find will not be part of a large team. It will just be the gardener, Jan, and me.
Therefore it is important that you enjoy a small and personal setup where chemistry, trust and good collaboration mean a lot.
Jan is a multi-person, loves experiences and car rides out into the blue. He loves to be involved in fixing things in the house/garden. We do not have a company anymore, so the day should involve something else. This means that everyday life should preferably be active, varied and full of different experiences and tasks.
Jan has previously had a brain hemorrhage/stroke, which has resulted in a major brain injury on the left side. This has caused paralysis in his right arm and leg. His arm is still not very useful, but he can walk slowly with the help of a cane.
He can also handle daily activities such as going to the bathroom, putting on clothes and making coffee.
Despite the injury, he still retains many functions, but has problems with short-term memory, empathy and cognitive skills, especially when it comes to seeing connections.
The tasks consist of
- Accompany Jan to various activities such as hairdresser visits, dental appointments, trips to the summer house, etc.
- Accompany Jan to visiting friends, restaurant visits, grocery shopping and other social activities.
- Ensure that Jan can participate in the activities he wants to in a safe and secure way.
- Monitor Jan to ensure that he does not undertake tasks that could be dangerous for him due to his paralysis and cognitive challenges.
- Assist Jan with practical tasks, especially those that require fine motor skills and coordination.
- Help Jan communicate effectively, especially in situations where his aphasia may be a challenge.
- Help with cooking and other everyday practical tasks.
- Join Jan on car rides and various trips and experiences – also spontaneous trips out into the blue.
- Help Jan with small projects and practical things in the house and garden, where he would very much like to be involved in fixing things.
So it is not a job where every day necessarily looks the same. Some days may involve work and practical tasks, while others may include a visit with a friend, shopping, a restaurant, a car ride out into the blue, or something else Jan would like to do.
You will become an important part of Jans daily life, and we hope to find a helper who wants to be part of creating an active, safe and meaningful everyday life together with Jan.
As a disability helper you will be part of a good, flexible and necessary team of disability helpers who together cover all shifts year-round. The job takes place in the citizen's own home, for leisure activities, social events and the excursions the citizen would like to participate in.
