About the job

Do you want to use economics, data and planning to create strong decision bases and concrete improvements in clinical operations? And do you thrive in close collaboration with managers and health professionals in a large and complex organization?

Then you may be our new colleague in Financial Management and Operational Development at Aarhus University Hospital. We are looking for an experienced consultant for a permanent position. We would like you to have experience with financial management and operational development from a public entity. You will be responsible for financial management and operational support of clinical departments and can at the same time have the opportunity to contribute to development tasks across the hospital.

About Financial Management and Operational Development

Financial Management and Operational Development is part of the Hospital Staff at Aarhus University Hospital and consists of 25 employees. The unit supports the hospital's clinical departments and management in both psychiatry and somatics and works, among other things, with financial management, budgeting, financial follow-up, forecasts, analyses, operations planning, management advisory, process facilitation and activity follow-up.

We work in a team-based manner and in close collaboration with department management and other units in the Hospital Staff. With our various professional competencies, we contribute to creating coherence between the hospital's professional ambitions, activity, capacity and financial framework. Our task is both to create an overview and useful decision bases and to translate strategic direction, knowledge and analyses into concrete improvements in the clinical daily life.

The task is particularly important in a time when the health service faces significant changes. The health reform, demographic development, increasing treatment needs, shortage of labor and new financial framework conditions place great demands on the hospital's ability to prioritize, adapt and use resources as efficiently as possible.

About the position

We are seeking a consultant who is ambitious and has a desire to strengthen work with financial management and operational development as well as support for clinical hospital departments at AUH. You will have responsibility for ongoing financial management, planning and management support at several departments. You will become a close sparring partner for the department management and help create an overview of economy, activity, staffing and capacity, so that leadership can make informed and strategic decisions.

The tasks range from fixed management deliverables to analyses and development processes. You must therefore be able to work structurally with data and analyses and be curious about the clinical reality. An important part of the role is to translate data and financial issues into clear messages and usable actions for leaders and professionals.

Your tasks will include, among others, to

  • take care of ongoing financial management, planning and leadership sparring for several departments
  • prepare monthly financial forecasts and monitor the department's financial balance
  • analyze the relationships between staffing, tasks, activity development, capacity and economy
  • prepare forward-looking decision bases and communicate analyses, risks and possible actions clearly
  • support optimization and development of department planning and management, including better use of data and capacity planning
  • advise and spar with the Health and Hospital Management and department management on frameworks and conditions for operations
  • participate in development projects and cross-cutting processes in close collaboration with clinical departments and colleagues in the Hospital Staff
  • support leaders and management groups in changes, implementation and ongoing follow-up

Your profile

We expect that you

  • have a relevant academic education at master's level
  • have experience with financial management and operational development as well as support for clinical hospital departments
  • have strong analytical abilities and are familiar with numbers, data and governance models
  • have experience with budget follow-up, financial forecasts and activity management
  • have good process and facilitation skills and can create momentum in collaboration with many stakeholders
  • can work in a structured and systematic way with a view to both the financial, organizational and human perspectives
  • thrive in close dialogue with leaders and can challenge, advise and support them in their leadership task
  • can analyze and communicate complex issues and large amounts of data so that they become understandable and usable for clinicians and leaders
  • can work independently, prioritize in a changing everyday life and complete tasks to the letter
  • have experience from a politically governed organization and a solid knowledge of the health sector

As a person you are curious, collaborative and good at building relationships. You take responsibility for your deliveries, share your knowledge and contribute actively to the unit's professional and social community. You do not need to know all parts of hospital operations from the start, but you must be willing to learn and bring your professional expertise into play together with others.

We offer

  • a permanent full-time position in one of the country's most complex and exciting public organizations
  • a professionally strong environment with colleagues who combine economy, data, operations and development
  • close collaboration with clinicians and managers and an opportunity to have real influence on the hospital's operation and development
  • good opportunities for professional development within financial management, operational development and the consultant role
  • a strong collegiate and informal work environment with room for humor and social activities.
