About the job
Zoologisk Have København
Zoological Garden Copenhagen seeks employee for Occupational Health, Safety, Quality and Environment
Based on our historical position as one of Denmark's largest cultural institutions with over 1.2 million visitors to the Garden each year and our efforts within research and nature conservation projects domestically and abroad, ZOO plays a significant role in ensuring better animal welfare and increasing biodiversity.
We are moving towards an even greener profile and therefore seek a structured and proactive employee who can help ensure a high level in occupational health, safety, quality and environment across the organization.
You get a central role in working to create safe working conditions, prevent accidents, ensure compliance with requirements and procedures, and support a culture where safety, quality and environment are integrated into daily operations. The position is anchored in HR, but you will have close connection and collaboration with ZOO's Operations Department and our Chief Sustainability Officer.
Your primary tasks
You will have a hands-on role where you are responsible for a number of central tasks. You will among other things work with:
- Occupational health and safety organization and the ongoing development of our occupational health efforts
- Workplace assessments (APV), action plans and follow-up
- Ergonomics, noise, indoor climate and other physical working environment conditions
- Registration, follow-up and prevention regarding work-related injuries, near-miss events and safety observations
- Chemical working environment, chemicals, safety data sheets and chemical risk assessments
- Risk assessments of tasks, areas, machines and processes
- Preparation and maintenance of safety instructions, procedures and emergency plans
- Introduction and training of employees in occupational health, safety and relevant procedures
- Quality procedures, documentation, deviations and corrective actions
- Follow-up on relevant legal requirements and ensuring that the organization works in compliance with these, including internal controls and audits
- Preparation of key figures, reporting and decision foundations for management
- Support the Chief Sustainability Officer and the Operations Manager within their areas regarding Occupational Health, Safety, Quality and Environment
You succeed in the role when occupational health and safety work is experienced as a natural part of operations, when risks are identified and addressed early, and when the organization works more systematically with learning, quality and prevention.
Your profile
We expect at least 4-5 years of professional experience with occupational health and safety, as well as experience in at least one or more of the areas of safety, quality or environment, and a relevant theoretical background/education.
As a person you are used to working independently, are good at planning and collaborating with many stakeholders. For you, it is most enjoyable when you have to handle and prioritize several concurrent tasks. You work in a solution-oriented way rather than solely focusing on rules and can translate legislation and complex requirements into clear and understandable instructions
With a view to cross-functional collaboration in projects, it is essential that you easily navigate among different disciplines, have the courage to constructively point out risks and undesirable conditions, just as your communication skills, both oral and written, are an important contribution to ensuring that we collectively deliver the expected results.
We offer
Zoological Garden Copenhagen is a special workplace where many disciplines work together toward the common goal - to advance conservation and care for the world's animals.
You will be part of an informal work environment with a high level of engagement, collaboration and camaraderie, and you will have the opportunity to work with unique settings and experiences that make a difference for the Garden's guests and organizations that wish to take advantage of the Garden's opportunities.
The position is full-time and compensation is based on qualifications and experience. In addition, there is a pension scheme and health insurance as well as an employee card to ZOO. We have an active staff association that arranges many enjoyable social, cultural and sporting activities.
Motivated application and CV should be sent via the link as soon as possible and no later than Tuesday, 20 October 2026.
If you have questions about the position, you are welcome to contact HR and Organizational Director Helle Ditlefsen at [email protected] or phone 30167310 or HR Consultant Dorthe Greve at [email protected] or phone 61555767.
We look forward to receiving your application!
