About the job

Fire & Rescue Sønderjylland works with much more than blue lights and red vehicles.

Our service area includes, among other things, the security department, service shifts, inspection of fire extinguishing equipment, first aid equipment and defibrillators in all three of our owner municipalities, as well as playground inspections in the municipalities of Tønder and Haderslev. The service area has, in recent years, been in rapid development, and we solve only tasks that are directly related to our three owner municipalities.

You will be involved in ensuring the overall overview of extinguishment inspections in the municipalities of Tønder, Haderslev and Aabenraa, including planning of inspections, ordering, execution including reporting and the subsequent invoicing. In short, you are involved from start to finish and there is not a single day the same.

In connection with extinguishment inspections we also perform inspections of first aid equipment, defibrillators and fire hoses. Therefore it is important that you thrive with customer contact and can advise our customers on the right products and solutions.

In addition, you will have tasks within playground inspection, where you together with our current playground inspector will conduct part of the annual inspections of the approximately 200 playgrounds in Haderslev and Tønder Municipality.

We want an employee who

  • can handle a diverse role with a combination of practical and physical work as well as administrative tasks.
  • has good communication and presentation skills.
  • thrives working independently and is eager to solve service tasks with responsibility and engagement.
  • can plan their own workday with a focus on optimizing working time to avoid idle time and extra trips.
  • is motivated by freedom with responsibility, while also wanting to be part of an organization where we lift as a team, help each other and have a strong focus on collaboration, quality and professional task execution.

It can be an advantage if you are a trained firefighter and would like to join our ”flying firefighter function,” where you join the call-out at local fire stations if you are nearby, as needed during working hours. Or perhaps you would like to take the training to become a firefighter, which is also a possibility, but not a requirement to be considered for the position.

In daily life you will have access to a very nice, newer company car with good layout and space, as well as all tools and equipment required for the different tasks. In addition, there will be thorough training in the tasks.

About Fire & Rescue Sønderjylland

Fire & Rescue Sønderjylland is a municipally-owned § 60 company between the municipalities of Haderslev, Tønder and Aabenraa.

We are the municipalities’ joint authority regarding preventive and response rescue services. We respond to about 1,000 incidents annually. At the same time, we perform various tasks for our owner municipalities across their approximately 250 buildings, such as service shift tasks, theft prevention of municipal buildings, education and courses, playground inspection of about 200 playgrounds, as well as extinguishment services, etc.

We are 32 full-time employees, 8 part-time operations leaders, 15 service guards, about 40 hourly instructors and around 800 volunteers and part-time firefighters distributed across 32 fire stations.

At Fire & Rescue Sønderjylland we work from our three core values which are “decency, care and consideration,” and we strive to always solve our tasks and meet others based on these three words. Therefore it is important to us that you can identify with the three core values and incorporate them into your work.
