Attachment to the early primary grades and then to the middle years

You are professionally trained in Danish and also have training as a reading supervisor with you. You will be affiliated with Year 2, but are expected to follow the students up into the middle years.

To maintain a solid knowledge of the practice you guide your colleagues in, you will also be part of Year Group Team 2 and this school year should expect to teach 18 lessons per week in ordinary classroom teaching as well as undertake a shared class teacher role.

A strong guiding instinct

As a reading supervisor you should have the courage to guide the school's teachers and pedagogues in supporting students’ reading and writing development as well as participation opportunities in the class based on dyslexia-friendly principles:

• Teachers, pedagogues and parents have basic knowledge of dyslexia and other literacy difficulties.
• Teachers, pedagogues and parents have basic knowledge about the use of LST with regard to supporting dyslexia-friendly teaching in all subjects.

Opgaver

You know that early intervention is important for students' sense of belonging at the school and for their belief that they have much to contribute. You are therefore ready to be an active part of the reading mentors' supportive efforts, which for example consist of:

• Guidance of the school's teachers and pedagogues as well as sparring with the management
• Workshops in tapping and early reading instruction for the early-years staff
• Workshops for the pedagogical staff with a view to ensuring dyslexia-friendly teaching in all subjects
• Courses in tapping and appropriate reading strategies for parents of 0th-year students
• Courses in tapping for parents of students with literacy difficulties
• Guidance for parents of students with literacy difficulties from Year 4 to Year 9
• "Get exam-ready": Courses for students in Years 8 and 9
• Conduct tests of the students and provide feedback to teachers and parents, as well as initiate relevant interventions and action plans based on this

There are three reading mentors at the school who support each other in the overall task solution. The tasks are distributed among you based on your competences and experience, but with the immediate expectation that your mentoring competences are tied to the middle years.

You have met students with different types of literacy difficulties as well as different forms of comorbidity, and you see diversity in the student group as a natural reflection of the surrounding society. You are focused on ensuring participation opportunities for all students and are happy to guide your colleagues in annual planning, choice of materials and teaching differentiation that benefits both the high- and the low-flying students. You take pride in developing your professional knowledge and seek knowledge about the latest methodologies and didactics within your mentoring area.

Personlig profil

You are responsible and good at planning your work. You are systematic, have a good overview and follow tasks through to the end.

You are relationally strong and understand that we also work on teaching students to learn – while preserving their enthusiasm to learn. You are a pedagogical, competent teacher as well as a balanced and direction-setting classroom leader. Parents and students experience you as a dedicated teacher who naturally sets the agenda in the teaching and in parent collaboration.

Skolen på Duevej

We are a well-functioning public school with good well-being and excellent academic results. We have just over 870 students and more than 100 staff.

The school has 3-4 streams from kindergarten to 9th grade. We are organized in year-group teams with both teachers and pedagogues, and the organization includes both the school part and the after-school care (SFO) and club.
