About the job

Do you want to work in the engine room of the Danish welfare state and deal with big numbers, high complexity and a meaningful agenda together with professionally skilled and engaged colleagues?

We are seeking numerically strong and analytical economic partners for the Steering Office in the Economics area of the Tax Administration. You should have a flair for numbers and analysis, a sharp pen, and not least a desire to work with tasks within economic management.

A bit about us

In Steering Office we work to ensure coherent financial management for the Tax Administration’s areas of expertise with an annual budget of over DKK 3 billion. As economic partners for the areas, we support them in daily financial management and ensure strategic prioritization of the agency’s financial framework. In addition, we assist the areas with economic analyses and similar tasks.

The office consists of 20 employees, including a head of office and two deputy heads.

As an employee in the Steering Office you can look forward to working in a spacious, ambitious and informal workplace. Here we offer varied, multifaceted tasks together with good collegiality – both within the office and across the offices in the Economics area and the rest of the Tax Administration. We believe that good colleague relationships create better professional results.

Varied tasks and development opportunities

You will be part of the work with the office’s core tasks and gain a broad contact surface in the Economics area and the rest of the Tax Administration. There will be recurring tasks in the annual cycle, e.g., expense follow-ups and the basic budget process, and you will have the opportunity to deepen and improve in the core task.

You will also be required to participate in ad hoc analysis tasks, draft cases, ensure that processes run smoothly, and act as a sparring partner for the collaborators in the Tax Administration. We use Power BI as our primary tool for management reporting and continually work on developing and improving our solutions. Experience with, and a sense and interest for, data processing and communication, preferably through Power BI, will thus be a plus.

To succeed in the role you must have the desire and ability to build trustful relationships, be curious and take initiative in task solving.

Your tasks will mainly lie within

  • Financial controlling, including ongoing budget and expense follow-up
  • Economic analyses, budget analyses and preparation of budget cases
  • Advising, supporting and challenging the budget- and result-responsible deputy directors in the departments
  • Development and streamlining of our internal processes, methods and tools, including development of a solid data foundation.
  • Further development and improvement of our management reporting in Power BI.

About you

As a starting point, you have a relevant higher education at master's level in social sciences, e.g., cand.oecon., cand.polit., cand.scient.pol., or cand.merc. It would be an advantage if you have experience from a government agency or a ministry, but recent graduates will also be considered.

In addition, we place emphasis on you being

  • detail-oriented and responsible.
  • able to build trustful relationships with partners.
  • able to work independently and structured with your tasks.
  • statistically strong and analytical.
  • curious and with a certain amount of go-get-’em.

We are looking for someone who is interested in continuing to develop and improve themselves, as this is something we focus on. You will be attached to a group of colleagues during onboarding and on an ongoing basis, with whom you can spar and learn from each other. Professional excellence is a high value in the Tax Administration, and we continually work both internally and externally to strengthen our financial expertise.
