About the job

Do you want to help support both the Danish Customs Agency's leadership and your colleagues at the border in making data-driven decisions? Do you thrive at the interface between business and IT support, and can you translate large volumes of data into accessible data products that provide insights? Then you may be our new colleague.

Contribute to efficient use of data and support effective customs control

In the Danish Customs Agency's data team we support the entire agency in the data area and work for an increasingly data-driven agency. We do this, among other things, by developing data reports that are used both strategically and operationally—from the executive board room all the way to the border.

As a data consultant your tasks will include

  • identify users' reporting needs
  • develop metrics and indicators
  • develop reports in Power BI
  • train users in the use of data reports
  • make it easy to be data users in the Danish Customs Agency.

The team also handles a wide range of tasks that you will have the opportunity to contribute to. It could, for example, include testing data from new systems, developing the agency's data maturity and data governance.

The data team is part of the Office of Business Development and consists of a deputy head and ten colleagues who work with data from extraction at the source to the implementation of a fully developed report. In Business Development you will also have colleagues who work with IT development, process optimization and portfolio management.

Structured and collaborative with a user focus

Your education is not decisive, and you can be a recent graduate or have some years of experience with similar tasks.

It is an advantage, but not a requirement, if you have worked with SQL and Power BI and have experience with or knowledge of working with conceptual models and logical data models.

It is important that you have a strong end-to-end focus in the development of data products. That is, you can identify and understand needs, translate the needs into data solutions and implement the solutions with the users. You must be able to dive into source data and, together with your tax-knowledge colleagues, identify the processes where it is valuable to incorporate data.

It is also important that you are eager to understand your tax-knowledge colleagues' tasks so the team becomes an attractive sparring partner in the development of a more data-driven Danish Customs Agency.

In addition, we value that you

  • work in a structured way
  • are driven by understanding how data can help your tax-knowledge colleagues and how leaders can put data to use
  • always keep the individual user's data experience as a guidepost
  • enjoy collaborating with many different professional groups
  • approach your tasks with dedication and optimism.

We support an international societal mission

The Danish Customs Agency has about 800 employees distributed across the country. We come with very different backgrounds and areas of expertise – but we are all driven to take part in an important task, and we are proud of the results we create. In the staff we work daily to support the agency's core tasks, and we collaborate across the entire organization to constructive solutions.

If you want to collaborate with engaged colleagues across the country and be part of solving an international assignment that creates value for Denmark and ensures Danish society, then the Danish Customs Agency is for you. Together we create opportunities across borders. As part of your onboarding you will participate in both e-learning and on-the-job training and possibly other internal training.

In Business Development we value a great deal of independence in work, flexibility and good development opportunities. We help each other and have an informal and humorous tone of voice combined with a deep respect for our professionalism and tasks.
