About the job
Be part of building modern data products
Apply now! Would you like to help build modern data products that are developed once and can create value across Bankdata and our seven member banks?
We are looking for both a Data Engineer and a Senior Data Engineer for our data area in Bankdata.
Perhaps you already have solid experience with data engineering and modern data architecture and are ready to take on a large professional responsibility. Or perhaps you have several years of experience and primarily the technical curiosity and desire to develop further.
We have room for both profiles.
The common factor for you is an interest in modern data engineering and the desire to be involved in building something new. You will work with data products, cloud, data modeling and pipelines across different business areas.
Build data once – and make it usable across
You will become part of a product team with eight developers and a Product Owner. The team works on building data products that can be used across Bankdata and our seven member banks.
The data community is new, and we are still in the process of building the foundation. Therefore, you will have the opportunity to be involved from a time when technical choices must be made, new solutions developed and good ways of working with data are established.
One of the areas you will work into is our new shared CRM system. Here we will develop data products that can be reused across. But the role is broader, and you will also be able to work with data products in other areas.
The team has a good mix of new and experienced colleagues and works agile in 2-week sprints. Everyday life is characterized by sparring, knowledge sharing and an informal environment where we help each other reach goals.
There is a high degree of flexibility and the possibility of working from home – at the same time we value meeting and being together as a team.
Your contribution – modern data engineering in practice
You will work with the full journey from modeling and data streams to the finished data products.
Depending on your experience you will, among other things
- develop scalable and maintainable data products that can be reused across Bankdata and our member banks
- work with data modeling and data pipelines across a modern medalion architecture
- develop and maintain solutions on our cloud-based data platform
- work with ETL/ELT, data quality, lineage and performance
- collaborate with domain teams, Data Governance and our customers on needs, data models and solutions
- implement data standards and best practices
- identify opportunities to modernize and optimize existing data solutions
- take responsibility for selected domains or components on the platform.
As Senior Data Engineer we also expect you to take greater professional responsibility, contribute to technical decisions and mentor and develop less experienced colleagues.
The first year you learn both data and banking
In your first 6–12 months you will build a solid understanding of the financial world, Bankdata’s system landscape and the data streams that bind it all together.
You will quickly start developing data products on our new cloud platform and at the same time learn the different business areas and needs. In the initial period part of the work will be tied to our new shared CRM system and modernization of existing data solutions in the area.
How quickly and how much responsibility you take depends on your experience. We do not expect the same from our Data Engineer as from our Senior Data Engineer – but we expect both profiles to be curious and eager to develop professionally.
Two profiles – the same technical curiosity
We are looking for two new colleagues with different levels of experience.
As Data Engineer you typically have a few years of relevant experience with data engineering or similar. You have a solid technical foundation, but you do not necessarily need to have worked with all our technologies before. Here we value your attitude, curiosity and willingness to learn as highly as the number of years on your CV.
As Senior Data Engineer you come with more solid experience in data engineering and can take greater independent and professional responsibility. You have experience with complex data environments and can help set direction for solutions and technical choices.
For both profiles it is relevant that you have experience with or interest in several of the following areas:
- data modeling and modern data architecture, e.g. medalion architecture and Domain-Driven Design
- data engineering in cloud environments – preferably Azure
- Python and SQL
- ETL/ELT and data pipelines
- data quality, lineage and performance.
Experience with CRM systems – e.g. Microsoft Dynamics – is an advantage but not a requirement.
Your educational background could be in IT, natural sciences, economics or information science, but the exact education is not decisive.
You are curious, collaborative and can see the big picture
Technology is important, but the way you work is too.
We are looking for colleagues who want to collaborate broadly and can create an overview without getting lost in details. You are curious about new technologies and almost cannot resist exploring how things can be done better.
At the same time you thrive on working with different disciplines and can explain complex technical solutions to people with varying levels of technical insight.
Develop yourself together with our data area
You join an area with large ambitions for data and plenty of opportunities to shape your professional direction yourself.
You can specialize further within Data & Analytics, work with new technologies and help shape our cloud-based data solutions. Over time there may also be opportunities to develop towards roles such as lead or architect.
As a senior profile you will also have the opportunity to use your experience to spar with and develop less experienced colleagues.
What is common is that you will work with large data volumes, modern technology and solutions that must function across Bankdata and seven independent member banks – in a sector where data is both business-critical and heavily regulated.
