About the job

Can you model data and would you like to help strengthen DBU's use of data across the world of football? Then you now have the opportunity to play a key role in translating raw data into valuable insights and solutions that support decision-making in Danish football in a newly created position at DBU.

At DBU we work every day to promote and develop Danish football. That also applies when it comes to translating data into knowledge. We are now seeking a Data Engineer who will help further develop our data- and BI-platform and ensure that data becomes easier to use across DBU and Danish football.

The position is an obvious opportunity for you who have a few years of experience in a similar role and want to drive, maintain and develop our data warehouse. At the same time you will become part of an exciting workplace and have the opportunity to be part of a journey.

About the position

You will be part of Society & Insights in DBU, where we among other things work with analyses, research, Business Intelligence and strategic initiatives across Danish football. Here you will work closely with our BI Manager, who owns the dialogue with the business and designs the data model, while you challenge the design before it becomes code.

In addition, you will collaborate with our analytics consultants and other colleagues to create a strong foundation for high-quality data and insights. You are also expected to have close collaboration with other teams and departments in the organization.

You will be an important part of developing DBU's data platform and BI solutions, which we are currently building. Over the past year, DBU has worked with an external supplier on our data warehouse. The solution is built in PySpark on Microsoft Fabric and today consists of around 270 jobs that read from our source systems and build a layered data warehouse up to reporting-ready tables.

We now face taking over the Data Engineer role, so you will take over the codebase from the external supplier, who will assist during a transition period so you are not starting from scratch. But in the long run the responsibility will be yours.

Your main tasks

  • Collect, structure and transform data from various sources.
  • Operate and maintain the existing Data Warehouse pipeline: monitoring nightly runs, debugging when something goes wrong, and ongoing adjustments when source systems change.
  • Contribute to the development of DBU's data platform and BI environment in Microsoft Fabric, so we can support more parts of the organization.
  • Ensure high data quality and documentation of our solutions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the organization on data-related needs and projects.
  • Contribute to new solutions within data, automation and AI.
  • Co-share responsibility for architecture, security and governance of the data platform.

Who are you?

We imagine that you

  • Have a relevant higher education degree within e.g. computer science, software development, data science or similar.
  • Have experience from a similar role.
  • Have knowledge of SQL, PySpark and Microsoft Fabric or similar cloud-based platforms, e.g. Databricks.
  • Have knowledge of dimensional modeling (Kimball) and CDC-based pipelines.
  • Have experience with Azure DevOps or similar for CI/CD.
  • Are curious, structured and eager to learn new things.
  • Thrive in collaboration and can translate abstract problems into concrete solutions.
  • Are a team player and contribute to a good and healthy working environment.

We offer

In DBU you become part of an exciting workplace in the heart of Danish football.

You will get

  • A role with a steep learning curve and professional development.
  • Close collaboration with experienced colleagues in Business Intelligence and analytics.
  • Opportunity to shape the development of DBU's data foundation.
  • A workplace with a high degree of collaboration, flexibility and meaning.
  • Opportunity to work with data that creates value across all parts of Danish football.

In addition, we offer a range of employee benefits, e.g. employer-paid pension, private health insurance, free phone, internet, flexible working conditions, lunch scheme, massage and physiotherapy, exercise during working hours, discount agreements and several other employee benefits.

Application process

The application deadline is October 18. Start date is January 1, 2027. All applications are treated confidentially.

We encourage everyone regardless of background, gender, sexuality or religion to apply for the position.
