About the job

Are you an experienced leader known for your ability to collaborate, negotiate, plan processes and, at the same time, be a strong finisher of the task? Then read on.

It requires assertiveness, a strong professional expertise and plenty of leadership drive if you are to be our new deputy head of the office. In return, we can offer a portfolio of tasks with meaning, influence and a workplace with room to grow and strong values at the core.

We have about 15,000 employees across many different collective agreements, and a large part of them staff our operations in a 24/7 setup, which means that the HR role requires insight, understanding and knowledge.

You will have a prominent internal role in our organisation when our local management needs help and sparring, and at the same time you will play an important external role towards the trade unions and other regions. As deputy head of the office you will have full, day-to-day operational responsibility for the collective agreements and negotiations area as well as HR data. You ensure that the operational tasks are performed with high quality, careful handling and within deadlines.

The task and the role of deputy head of the office

Personnel, Negotiation and Payroll is one of five offices in the department, HR and Patient Contact. We solve many different tasks, and we solve many of them in cross-disciplinary collaborations. This collaboration must be maintained, expanded and streamlined.

You will lead two teams with 13 professionally skilled and experienced employees. Your main task will be to unite, lead and set direction and to support clearly defined work and responsibility areas. Task solutions must also continue to be optimised in close collaboration with colleagues in and across teams in the office. It is essential that you see the strength in the interaction between the three professional areas and the office as a whole.

The teams consist of strong professional profiles with extensive specialist knowledge. The task portfolio in the teams includes, among other things:

  • Negotiation: Preparation of pre-agreements, negotiation of local salaries and individual salary agreements, as well as advice and guidance on salary negotiations.
  • Collective agreements: Advice, interpretation and implementation of collective agreements, working-time rules, vacation agreements, working-time directive and the preparation of local agreements and decentralised working-time agreements.
  • HR data: Preparation of HR data for various forums, including sickness absence, staff turnover, staff information, access to documents and development of management information.

We have a good work environment, and we are used to acting independently out in the organisation, even when complex tasks arise from day to day and flip priorities upside down. We value trust and freedom with responsibility, and we appreciate plenty of professional sparring and dialogue, well bound together by humor and an informal tone.

In addition to the leadership task in general, some of the main tasks and roles for the new deputy head of the office will be:

  • to see and develop the potential in HR data as a leadership tool and support ongoing relevant decision-making support to the organisation.
  • to set the direction for implementation, training and advice to the organisation regarding new collective agreements and working-time rules.
  • to continue optimisation of negotiation processes and support greater collaboration across teams.
  • negotiate with the trade unions, where the role requires you to have a good view of both strategy and durable and pragmatic solutions when it comes to cooperation with the trade unions and other partners.

You will work closely with HR People Director, Jeanett Frandsen. While your primary focus is safe and efficient operations, the strategic development and long-term lines in the area will take place in ongoing dialogue and close cooperation with the HR People Director as well as the rest of the leadership team in the office and in HR and Patient Contact.

In concrete tasks and regarding strategic considerations on the collective agreement, data and negotiation area, there will also be close cooperation with the HR Director, Mariane Therkelsen, just as there will be complex cases requiring dialogue with the region's management. Jeanett Frandsen says the following about her expectations for the collaboration:

I am seeking a leadership colleague who will be my regular sparring partner in daily practice and who is strong in leading both upwards, downwards and across the organisation. You can work in a cross-field where you must balance empathy and clarity with a pragmatic and creative approach within the framework. Our days rarely look alike; I therefore look forward to having a colleague who meets unpredictability with a healthy sense of humor and drive, and who can translate complex challenges into concrete solutions and progress.

Education and experience

Your educational background can be diverse, and it is not necessarily decisive. What is absolutely essential is that:

  • you have leadership experience.
  • you have experience with one or more of the following: the public sector collective agreements, labour law, negotiation and/or strategic use of HR data.
  • you have experience with HR in the public labour market/politically governed organisation, e.g. region, municipality or state.

We expect that you lead with trust in your employees and in your external environment. You have a winning demeanor and can be both professional and concrete – while maintaining empathy. In addition, you can probably nod to many of the following attributes:

  • You are a skilled people leader who can guide, advise and spar with your employees, and you contribute to a good working environment.
  • You are a capable negotiator who can stand firm or choose the pragmatic solution depending on the situation, and you dare to make unpopular decisions.
  • You are attentive, have impact, and you can operate in a field with many different and strong interests.
  • You are trustworthy in your communication, and you can convey complex knowledge and complex issues in a way that everyone understands.
  • You have a good eye for strategic communication both internally and externally, and you actively contribute to HR and Patient Contact being visible with advice, guidance and news to the region

A meaningful job with influence

As deputy head of the office, you will have close collaboration with the managements of the region’s three hospitals and the region’s other sectors and operations.

In Region Nordjylland, we focus on leadership, and there are many opportunities for inspiration and competence development as a leader in the region. When you start, you will be paired with a mentor who will guide you during the first year.

In HR and Patient Contact we know where the region is headed, because it is our task to continuously support that development. This makes us relevant partners in the region. It requires that we follow and shape the strategic agendas ourselves. And that we are good at developing ourselves.
