About the job
Will you create delicious food and enjoyable meal experiences for people with dementia?
Are you passionate about food – and at the same time eager to make a difference for people?
Then we might have the job for you.
At team SØ8 on Kildemarksvej, 22 people with dementia live here, each with their own story, personality, habits and preferences.
We are seeking a dietary professional to work 37 hours per week, who wants to create tasty, homemade meals and help make meals an important and cozy part of the citizens’ everyday life.
For us, good food is about much more than nutrition. It’s also about the smell from the kitchen, recognizable dishes, seasonal produce, home-baked goods, cozy meals and the small moments that create quality of life.
Food from scratch and with consideration
We want to serve tasty and freshly prepared meals, where there is focus on both quality, nutrition and the citizens’ wishes and needs.
You will have the opportunity to put your mark on the menu and create meals that suit our residents – also when there is a need for individual solutions or small treats at short notice.
We value fresh ingredients and the possibilities of the season, and perhaps you’d like to pickle, bake, make jam or bring out the good old recipes.
Small moments make a difference
We have a strong desire that you as a cook have the motivation and creativity to involve our residents in cooking if they wish to. It can range from baking, pickling and chopping vegetables to setting the table or choosing between different options. Our residents have dementia and varying resources, so participation will often be brief – perhaps only a few minutes. The most important is that you see the possibilities and are creative about how each resident can contribute at their own level. For us, this helps create joy, recognition, community and quality of life.
The most important thing is that our residents experience dignity, presence and the pleasure of good food.
We imagine that you...
- are passionate about making tasty food from scratch
- have an eye for nutrition and individual nutritional needs
- can prepare food for residents with different needs and preferences
- enjoy baking good bread and delicious cakes
- like to use fresh ingredients and seasonal produce
- can be creative and find good solutions when a resident suddenly has no appetite
- want to work with people with dementia
- can create a cozy atmosphere around meals
- see the value in involving residents to the extent their resources and daily form allow
- thrive with both independent work and close interdisciplinary collaboration.
You may very well be trained as a nutrition assistant, cook or have another relevant dietary background, but this is not a requirement.
The most important thing is that you have a desire for both food and people.
🌱 You will become part of a strong community
You will become part of an interdisciplinary staff team, each contributing to a safe and meaningful daily life for our 22 residents.
There are 6 staff members employed to handle the catering for the entire nursing home, so there are good opportunities for professional sparring and mutual help.
We work closely across professional groups because we know that nutrition, dementia expertise, care and quality of life are closely connected.
💚 A job with meaning
You will make a significant positive difference for people who deserve a daily life with dignity, presence and good taste experiences.
And perhaps you are the one who can get a resident who otherwise won’t eat to take one more spoonful, because the food smells of something familiar.
That is also quality. That is also care.
The working hours end most days no earlier than 18:30. Work every other weekend and on half of the year’s holidays.
We have a job profile that you can have a copy of.
You are very welcome to drop by, say hello to us and see SØ8 before you decide to apply for the position.
