Director of Professional Affairs for Customs, Motor Vehicles and Cross-functional Operations

Can you step into the top management of Denmark's largest IT agency, and would you contribute to increasing trust in the Danish Tax Authority? Then you may be the new Chief Director of Development and Simplification for the Agency for Development and Simplification.

Your responsibility as Chief Director

As Chief Director for Customs, Motor and Cross-cutting Operations, you will lead a professional area with almost 340 employees, headed by three under-directors and 19 department heads. The area manages a financial framework of over DKK 1.3 billion. You will therefore be a top-level leader in your own right while also being part of the executive management.

The Chief Director has both the overall responsibility for the development, maintenance and operation of the IT-systems that support the Customs Administration and the Motor Vehicle Administration. At the same time, the area is responsible for a number of cross-cutting methods and standards as well as for the Tax and Growth Ministry's own IT operations, including user support for the ministry's more than 12,000 employees.

You will be one of five Chief Directors who, together with the director general, form the executive leadership. The Agency for Development and Simplification is an organization undergoing change, and as part of a relatively new executive team you will have ample opportunity to influence decisions about the agency's development and strategic direction.

As a starting point you will, among other things, be responsible for

• Realization of IT development projects and programs as well as optimization and streamlining of existing IT solutions in the respective areas of Customs and Motor.
• Creating a transparent basis for the IT priorities of the Customs Administration and the Motor Vehicle Administration, including advising on value-creating and timely IT solutions.
• The strategic direction for the development, implementation and maintenance of shared methods for project management, architecture and technology across the Tax Administration.
• Implementation of the agency's IT operations strategy as well as support and development of the Tax Administration's own IT operations and collaboration with suppliers on this.
• Establishment and expansion of collaboration with the State IT on the operation of the Tax and Growth Ministry's basic IT, including optimization and efficiency of operations.

The position is placed in pay grade 39, and the workplace is Frederiksberg. The area’s employees are physically based in Frederiksberg and in Aalborg.

We are seeking a Chief Director with top-level leadership experience and solid knowledge of IT operations and development. It is important that you can create and maintain trustworthy and constructive relationships with the agency's internal and external partners, just as you must be able to participate in the strategic and business development of the agency and the Tax Administration.

Specifically we envision that you

• have significant leadership experience at a strategic level from a politically governed organization
• have spent a substantial part of your career working with IT and are able to bridge between business and technical perspectives
• are capable of creating good collaborative relationships internally in the agency, across the Tax and Growth Ministry’s corporate group and with external partners
• possess political acumen and strong communication skills that can ensure transparency in the agency's work at the political level
• can ensure progress in larger and more complex projects with many stakeholders
• are a clear and motivating leader who sets direction for managers and employees within the professional area.

About us

The Agency for Development and Simplification has about 1,500 employees who develop, operate and maintain new and existing IT-systems in the Tax and Growth Ministry's group, ensuring they are stable, secure and cost-effective.

Please note that your employment is conditional on obtaining and maintaining a security clearance during your employment in the position. Salary and terms of employment are negotiated in accordance with the framework agreement on contract employment of executives in the state. The position is classified in salary group 3, corresponding to pay grade 39. The position is expected to be filled on a permanent basis.
