About the job
Would you like a meaningful job where presence, humor, respect and good camaraderie among colleagues are an important part of everyday life? Then you might be the person I am looking for.
I am looking for a stable and engaged disability support assistant who would like to become part of my team of competent and helpful colleagues.
A bit about me
I was diagnosed with ALS in December 2014. I therefore have greatly reduced muscle strength in both arms and legs and sit permanently in an electric wheelchair.
My speech is very limited, but my illness has not affected my cognitive abilities . I communicate, among other ways, using an eye-tracking computer.
My husband and I live in our own house in Haderslev. Here there is a ceiling lift installed in both the bedroom and the bathroom, so the necessary aids are in place.
Twice a week I receive physiotherapy at home, where a physiotherapist comes to me.
About the job
You will become part of a fixed team where we help each other to make everyday life function well.
The position is a permanent role with a minimum of 5 overnight shifts per month . An overnight shift runs from 8.30 to 8.30 the following day. In addition, there will be some shorter day shifts from 8.30-15.00 .
You must also be prepared to step in during holidays and illness so that we can keep the rota running.
Your tasks will include, among others
- Personal care and help with daily tasks
- Practical tasks in the home
- Assistance with daily routines
- Accompaniment outside the home – including in a disability-friendly car
- Being a safe and natural part of my everyday life
There is onboarding/training before starting the job , so you do not need to have experience with ALS to apply. The most important is that you want to learn, are caring and respect the way I live my life.
Who are you?
I imagine that you
- Are positive, calm and patient
- Have empathy and respect for other people
- Are reliable and responsible
- Are flexible and can help when needed
- Can thrive working in a private home
- Have good physical health – although the job does not involve many heavy lifts
- Are a non-smoker, as I cannot tolerate smoke
- Have a valid driver's license
- Speak and understand Danish, as I use an eye-tracked computer to communicate
It is an advantage if you have experience from a similar job, but it is not a requirement. Personality, stability and the desire to make a difference are at least as important.
What can I offer you?
You will become part of a team where we emphasize that both I and my carers have a good everyday life.
You will get
- A meaningful and varied job
- A fixed team of committed colleagues
- Thorough onboarding before you start
- A workday with both fixed routines and various tasks
- Opportunity to learn a job where your efforts make a concrete difference to another person
- Salary and employment terms in accordance with the applicable collective agreement
- LOBPA is the employer and handles the recruitment.
If you can see yourself in the job, I would very much like to hear from you .
I hope to find a helper who wants to become a stable part of the team and help everyday life function – both on the good days and the more challenging days.
