About the job

About the job

We are seeking a new educator for our after-school club 'The Yellow Dragon', located at Mantziusgården in Birkerød and connected to Søholmskolen, parcel Toftevang.

There is always life and happy days, coziness and activity in the club, and together with two experienced educators who are passionate about their place, you will have the opportunity for a daily life with the wonderful children from grades 3-5. The only limit is your imagination, and there are opportunities for outdoor play, creative activities, games and just the good and important small talks with the children. 'The Yellow Dragon' is a good place to be a child - and an adult - and we are looking for you who with creativity and good ideas want to help set a positive frame for the afternoons here.

If the position is to be full-time, there will be added hours in an intermediate class. At the school you will be part of our larger community, and together with the teachers in the team you will help create good school days for the pupils in the year group where you are placed.

Each year all the children in SFK at Rudersdal Municipality participate in the children’s festival 'Hop and Rock'. In the run-up to the festival they practice singing and dancing, and it is therefore a day that everyone looks forward to.

Your teaching hours will always be with another adult, and you will take an active role in supporting the learning activities that you plan for the

classes. Work across year groups is a strong focus, and we place high emphasis on this cross-year community. This means you will join a community where

sharing knowledge, flexibility and joint responsibility are in focus. We place great importance on both children and adults experiencing themselves as part of a larger community where we

lift as a group and support each other in everyday life.

The position can be arranged from 30-37 hours.

Your profile

You are a trained educator - preferably with experience - and you are eager to work with the school’s children - both during teaching time and in after-school care.

The position offers a versatile daily life where you become an important part of the children’s development and well-being. Your primary team will be with the two other educators and 1-2 assistants in the club, as well as in the larger educator team that covers SFO at Toftevang and SFO and SFK at Bistrup.

With us, collaboration between educators and teachers is a natural part of everyday life. The educators’ professional skills are valued, and you join a year-group team together with the teachers in the year group where your school hours lie. You participate in team meetings and contribute to a common view of the pupils’ learning and well-being.

You have a positive approach to both teaching and leisure, and you understand the importance of communicating with both colleagues and parents. You are attentive to the children’s interests and traces, and it is important to us that you have an eye for children’s perspectives and can translate their curiosity into meaningful activities.

Your openness, flexibility and willingness to learn and develop will be valued in our school environment.

About us

Søholmskolen consists of two campuses, Toftevang and Bistrup. The school is located in green areas in Birkerød in Rudersdal municipality and has about 880 pupils and around 120 staff members.

We aim to motivate the pupils to complete their school journey successfully based on each individual’s strengths and abilities. As part of this, we seek to create

teaching that engages the pupils and prepares them for the demands and challenges of the future. We work with problem-based learning across the entire school, which

points towards a unified upper school where PBL is a central working method.

The school has SFO and SFK at both campuses. There is cross-campus collaboration, and there is joint supervision in 2-3 weeks during the summer holidays.

Søholmskolen is both something new and something old, as the two campuses’ traditions and community are sought to be maintained, while Søholmskolen’s shared

values and traditions are developed.

The school works with a year-group team organization, and professional learning communities are a fundamental element in the school’s way of thinking about

collaboration. We believe that when we do it together – and when we ourselves as professionals are in learning – the good childhood emerges.
