About the job
Drones are changing the modern battlefield at a pace rarely seen before. In the Business Area for Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) and Counter UAS (CUAS) we are responsible for ensuring that the Defence always has the right and most relevant drone and counter-drone systems.
We are seeking a new section head who will help drive the development of the Defence's counter-drone capabilities forward. You will become part of a strong professional environment where technology, operational understanding and international cooperation go hand in hand.
About us
The business area purchases, implements, updates and operates drone and counter-drone systems for the entire Defence. We work closely with the Defence, the users, the industry and international partners in NATO, NORDEFCO and EDA. Development is rapid, and you will have the opportunity to shape one of the most significant technological transformations in Danish defence.
You will become part of the business area’s management group, and will report directly to the head of the business area. In the management group we work with a high degree of delegation and trust-based leadership. We expect you to actively participate in our shared leadership task, and to help drive development in our work processes and professional communities.
Travel activity must be expected – to suppliers, industry fairs, international collaborations and visits to Defence units.
About the position
You will be chief of the CUAS Capacity Center and will fill the role of Capacity Center Manager. It is a central management role in the Danish Defence Acquisition and Procurement Agency (FMI), where you lead and coordinate the task solving for the portfolio of counter-drone systems that the capacity center is responsible for.
You will be responsible for both the section’s staff, material budgets and operation of existing capacities, where the daily execution is performed in cooperation with the deputy Capacity Center Manager.
The daily tasks consist of
- Lead the section’s tasks with acquisitions, updates and operation of existing and upcoming systems
- Lead the dialogue and close collaboration with users from all services, suppliers and technical specialists
- Be responsible for ensuring that acquisitions of new and ongoing updates to existing systems keep the portfolio relevant for our operational users
- Support international cooperation and knowledge sharing
You will also need to collaborate across FMI with other capacity centers where there are mutual dependencies, to best support the Defence with CUAS capabilities. For example:
Capacity Center for drones, which supports obtaining target materiel, interceptorsystems and “red-cell” drones that must challenge CUAS systems.
Capacity Center for air defense, which among other things provides the Defence’s mobile CUAS capabilities.
Capacity Center for electronic warfare in terms of coordination and optimization at the interfaces between CUAS and electronic warfare, which involves great complexity.
About you
We imagine that you
- are ready to lead skilled professional specialists through tasks of varying complexity in a time when CUAS is included in more and more solutions.
- prioritize leadership, but at the same time are able to dive curious into modern technology together with your competent staff.
- have good communication skills and can express yourself briefly and unambiguously in Danish as well as English in writing and speaking.
- have technical insight in the area and reasonable IT skills as well as knowledge of the logistical concepts for larger materiel operation and procurement projects.
- work in a structured way.
- are good at building positive relationships.
- are positively inclined to change and can drive development tasks.
- For civilian applicants we place high value on experience from FMI as well as from leadership positions, project management or positions from other government agencies or public authorities.
