Danish teacher for 1st grade – freedom to shape the teaching

Do you want to help create a school day where, as a teacher, you have a strong influence on both the content and organization of the teaching?

At Kirstinedalsskolen we are looking for an engaged and relationship‑oriented Danish teacher for our 1st grade.

You are helping to create the school day

We have organized our early years to give staff a broad professional autonomy. In 1st grade, teachers and pedagogues combine their hours and plan together how best to use the time.

This means you will help create the timetable, the content and the organization of the school day within the common framework.

The timetable is therefore not necessarily fixed from the start of the year. You plan based on the children you are working with, the goals you must reach, and the opportunities that arise along the way.

For example, this can mean that you

• work project‑based and cross‑curricular over longer periods
• bring the subjects together into coherent learning sequences
• spend an entire day on a thematic or project topic
• organize the children differently depending on activity and needs
• create space for immersion, movement, creativity and investigative learning
• adjust planning when the group of children or the learning situation calls for it.

As a Danish teacher you will have the opportunity to weave reading, writing, language, literature and oracy into both the subject‑based teaching and the larger cross‑curricular projects.

Freedom – with shared responsibility

The freedom does not mean that you stand alone. On the contrary.

In the year group, teachers and pedagogues plan and evaluate closely together. You pool resources around the children and use your different professional strengths to create a varied and coherent school day.

We have high methodological freedom and a culture where it is natural to share ideas, be curious about each other’s practice, and together find solutions.

You will become part of a professional community where we do not expect you to have all the answers, but that you want to contribute, test ideas and develop practice together with your colleagues.

At Kirstinedalsskolen you are employed under the Køge Municipality’s local working time agreement for teachers and kindergartners.

We place importance on clear common guidelines while also allowing space for teachers and pedagogues to use their professional knowledge and judgment.

The flexible organization enables more adults to be around the children and creates good conditions for differentiation, relationship work and close follow‑up of each child.

The position starts 1 December 2026 and is a full‑time position with salary and employment terms in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and Køge Municipality’s local agreements.
