Operations Manager for Cemeteries in Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality

Arealdrift in Center for Arealer og Ejendomme seeks an experienced operations manager for the Cemeteries. In the entire Area Drift, we are about 80 employees with varying professional backgrounds, education and backgrounds. As the municipality's operations department, our tasks range from care and maintenance of municipal cemeteries, operation and maintenance of the municipality's other green areas, public road areas, squares and winter service.

We seek an operations manager who will create the best framework for employees and contribute to ensuring that the cemeteries' operations and construction tasks are solved efficiently and with high quality.

What is the frame for the job?

You will become part of the operations management together with your manager colleagues in Drift Grøn and Drift Vej, and you will be tasked with ensuring good and proper leadership of the approx. 10-12 employees spread across the 2 cemeteries for which you are responsible. We focus on more leadership close to the task, so employees see and can spar with their leadership in daily work.

With reference to the Head of Area Operations, you as the operations manager are responsible for daily operations, task solving and leadership of your own area. You focus on high professionalism, operational optimization and good service for the benefit of graveyard owners and the municipality's citizens. This happens in close collaboration with your other colleagues in the leadership team, where emphasis is on cooperation and cross-disciplinary task solving when meaningful.

What tasks will you perform?

On your to-do list are

• Daily prioritization and qualification of tasks
• Personnel management, including creating motivation, well-being and job satisfaction
• Optimal task management and consistency in task execution
• Systematic holding of MUS interviews, handling of sick leave etc.
• Guarantee of good and clear collaboration internally and externally, including through good and clear communication
• Responsible for your own operations team as well as management of the shared budget for the cemeteries

You will join the team that in shifts handles operations duty and winter service. At the same time you join a management team with focus on cooperation and cross-disciplinary task solving.

What do you bring to the table?

• You are comfortable and at ease in a leadership role, and you will, together with your employees, work for efficient operations through professionalism, mutual trust and good well-being at the cemeteries
• You have solid leadership experience within cemetery and funeral operations; perhaps from the municipal sector or from the Church of Denmark
• You are able to create an overview and coherence between tasks at both the strategic and the operational level
• You have a sharp eye for constructive solutions
• You are a natural and positive role model when there is a need to challenge the “we've always done it this way” culture
• You are curious about new methods and efficient task solving
• You know that as a leader in a political system you must nurture good relationships and work closely with the rest of the administration
• You are good at communicating with graveyard owners and funeral directors and generally have a good understanding of the area's special needs when meeting people in grief
• You have good structure in your work and know that plans are important to achieve goals
• If you have knowledge of biodiversity, natural areas and the care of protected natural habitats, it would be an extra plus, as Lyngby Park Cemetery particularly contains large natural resources. The most important thing is that you are willing to learn.

Salary and employment terms

Employment is as Operations Leader in Area Operations, Center for Areas and Properties. Salary and employment conditions are negotiated in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and qualifications.

The workplace is primarily Lyngby Park Cemetery, Gyrithe Lemches Vej 9, 2800 Kongens Lyngby, but you will also be required to be at Sorgenfri Cemetery and at Nørregade 9, 2800 Kongens Lyngby.

About Lyngby-Tårbæk Municipality and the Center for Areas and Properties

The Center for Areas and Properties serves 55,000 residents and about 4,000 employees in Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality. We are the project and operations owner for the municipality's properties such as schools, day-care centers, sports facilities, swimming halls, office buildings, care homes, refugee housing, roads and green areas.
