Operations operator at color sorting plant in Aalborg

Meldgaard Miljø A/S has since 14 July 2024 operated a color sorting plant in Aalborg for Nordværk on an 18-year contract. The plant sorts green and black bags containing respectively food waste and residual waste using optical sensors. Residual waste is sent to the incineration plant at Nordværk, while the food waste is collected by Nordværk for further utilization. The plant has a capacity of 58,000 tons per year and receives a minimum of 42,000 tons.

About the job

This is a position as an operations operator at our color sorting plant in Aalborg, with the work site at Troensevej 2P, Aalborg Ø.

You will be part of a team of 3-4 operators, who work closely with the operations manager and production manager on the daily operation of our sorting plant. You will help ensure continuous and optimal operation of the color sorting plant, where part of the day takes place in the control room.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring the plant from the control room
• Handling minor operational stoppages and alarms
• Removal of stuck material
• Truck driving
• Transport of residual waste from the sorting plant to the incineration plant at Nordværk
• Cleaning of machines and work areas
• Scraping and washing floors
• Lubrication of bearings and light maintenance
• Ad hoc tasks in production

About you

Experience from production, warehousing, agriculture, recycling or similar is an advantage, but not a requirement. The most important is that you are responsible, eager to learn and want to be part of a team that makes things work

• Are not afraid of physical work
• Thrive with practical tasks
• Have basic IT experience
• Truck certificate is an advantage but not a requirement
• A truck driving license is an advantage, as we periodically transport residual waste from the sorting plant to the incineration plant
• Have a good sense of humor and be positive

Opportunity for more technical responsibility

We do not necessarily require a trained mechanic. Instead we would like you to have practical flair and an interest in technology. For the right person there is the possibility to gradually take on more maintenance tasks such as replacing electrical motors, under-belt rollers, filters, and other mechanical tasks at the plant.
