About the job

Are you good at creating structure, keeping an overview and making many puzzle pieces fit – even when the plan suddenly changes? And would you like to help make everyday life function for around 50-60 doctors in an emergency department in rapid development? Then maybe it’s you we’re looking for!

We are looking for a duty-time planner for doctors for a permanent position of 37 hours per week starting 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Your role – you will have a central place in the engine room.

As a duty-time planner, you will become an important part of the daily operations in the Emergency Department. Together with the department management, you will be responsible for the duty-time planning for our doctors and thereby help ensure that the right competencies are present at the right time – around the clock.

You will work closely with the department management, and you will never be alone with the task.

In the Emergency Department we also have duty-time planners for the nursing staff and the secretaries. We see all planners as a single team, where you spar with each other and share experiences.

In addition there is the possibility for sparring with the department secretary, the leadership group, dedicated doctors in the department and the hospital's payroll or HR consultants.

The Emergency Department – a specialty in rapid development

Emergency medicine is a relatively new specialty, and the Emergency Department at the Regional Hospital Gødstrup is a large and exciting department with a everyday life that is both busy, unpredictable and full of different tasks.

We receive patients from large parts of Region Midtjylland and on the busiest days can receive up to 200 patients in 24 hours.

The department has around 225 staff across professions, and we are constantly working to develop our workflows, organization and collaboration.

This also means that you as a duty-time planner will have the opportunity to help develop the planning so that it supports the department's needs, the doctors' competencies and a good working life.

Your primary tasks will include

  • Duty-time planning for all doctors in the Emergency Department
  • Planning across our three shift teams:
  • On-call shifts:

KBU doctors, who typically stay with us for 6 months

  • Mid shifts:

HU doctors in Emergency Medicine, Internship doctors, AP Block doctors

  • Backup shifts:

Specialists in emergency medicine, senior physicians, chief physicians,

HU doctors in their final phase in Emergency Medicine

  • Development of attendance profiles so that the right medical competencies are present in the different functions
  • Vacation and public holiday planning
  • Registration of deviations and pay in the duty scheduling system
  • Ensuring that working-time rules, collective agreements and local agreements are observed
  • Ongoing adjustment of rosters
  • Covering shifts and functions during acute and longer-term illness
  • Dialogue with the doctors about wishes, changes and challenges in the roster
  • Collaboration with the department management on the ongoing adjustment of staffing to the department's needs

Who are you?

We imagine that you thrive in a workday where there is both structure and unpredictability.

You don’t need to know everything from day one – but you should want to learn and be curious about people, planning and rules.

We place, among other things, emphasis on the fact that you

  • Have experience with duty-time planning or other complex shift scheduling
  • Have IT flair and preferably experience with relevant planning systems
  • Can stay overview when many things change at once
  • Work in a structured and systematic way
  • Have a eye for detail without losing sight of the whole
  • Can navigate collective agreements, working-time rules and local agreements – or are keen to learn
  • Are good at communicating and collaborating with many different people
  • Are clear and able to stand firm when necessary
  • Have a flexible and solution-oriented approach
  • Contribute to a good working environment with humor, engagement and good spirits

We offer you

  • A central role in the operation of a large and exciting Emergency Department
  • A thorough introduction to the department, the medical group and the planning task
  • A close collaboration with the department management
  • A strong planning team where you can spar and help each other
  • A workday with both fixed tasks and new challenges
  • Opportunity to contribute to developing our roster planning and workflows
  • A workplace with high engagement, good camaraderie and room for humor
  • Good opportunities for personal and professional development

And of course you will work with around 50-60 doctors, each with their own wishes, needs and good ideas for the perfect roster. We promise you won’t get bored!
