About the job

Can you combine technical depth with professional leadership of specialists, and are you ready to challenge the status quo? Then the National Police would like to hear from you.

The National Police's IT Directorate seeks a technically strong operations lead for Network Services. The section is responsible for the operation, maintenance and development of the National Police's network and firewall solutions, which play a crucial role in the police's critical infrastructure.

As a technical operations lead, you will be the section head's right hand and a central professional driving force in the section. You will have a close sparring relationship with the section head and together with them ensure stable, secure and future-proof operation.

The position has no personnel management responsibility. The section head bears the overall personnel responsibility, while you take on a special responsibility for the professional direction, daily coordination and progress in the section's technical areas.

You set the direction for specialists

You will work closely with highly specialized employees. You do not need to be the deepest specialist in every area, but you must have the technical understanding and judgment that enables you to ask the right questions and create progress.

Your tasks will include, among others, to

  • be a professional sparring partner for the section head and the section's specialists
  • set professional direction and coordinate tasks across the section
  • ensure stable and secure operation of network infrastructure
  • challenge and qualify technical solutions and decisions
  • follow up on risks, technical debt and improvement initiatives
  • create progress in technical initiatives and development tasks
  • contribute to capacity and resource planning
  • coordinate with other parts of IT Directorate, suppliers and partners
  • maintain overview and set direction in critical operation situations.

You have experience with professional leadership and technical depth

We expect you to have a minimum of 10 years of professional IT experience and at least 5 years in the network domain to be the sparring partner we want for our specialists. You also have experience with professional leadership or coordination of specialists and a deep knowledge of networks and general infrastructure. You also have strong skills in communication, collaboration, analysis, ITIL processes and decision-making.

You ideally have a solid technical foundation (knowledge) in several of the following areas:

  • LAN, WAN and VLAN
  • SDN and SD-WAN
  • IT security, firewalls and VPN
  • Monitoring, ITIL processes for operation and monitoring

You do not need to know it all. The most important is that you understand the technology, can challenge it professionally and can translate your knowledge into good decisions and concrete improvements.

It is a prerequisite that you speak, write and understand Danish and English at a high level.

You create followership through professionalism

You thrive in working with specialists and have respect for their professionalism. You can talk with different profiles, challenge their solutions and come with alternatives without creating conflicts. You must therefore be able to listen as well as drive a process.

You are structured, analytical and robust and can keep an overview when operations are under pressure. You communicate clearly and can convey complex technical issues to both management and non-technical collaborators.

You are capable of creating direction and motivation, are good with relationships and collaborate well across the organization.

Your new workplace

Network Services consists of 20 skilled employees with diverse technical backgrounds. The section is characterized by a high professional level, a good collegial spirit and room for both humor and sparring. The daily life is characterized by high activity, complex tasks and ongoing professional development.

You will also have close collaboration with the leadership team in the Center for Infrastructure Services, which consists of three section heads and a center director. You will also have broad contact with the center's other sections and the rest of IT Directorate.

We all work toward the same goal: to deliver robust and secure IT support so that the police can solve its important societal tasks.

Salary and terms of employment

If you have an academic background, you will be employed under the collective agreement in force between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). You will be classified as an administrator, specialist or chief consultant based on your qualifications.

If you have a different educational background, you will be employed under the prevailing organizational agreement for office clerks in the state between the Ministry of Finance and HK/STAT as well as the OAO-S joint agreement.

Organizationally you are attached to the National Police's Corporate IT. Your workplace is Frederikskaj 8, 2450 Copenhagen S.

A condition of employment is that you can obtain a security clearance and maintain it throughout your employment.

The National Police has a smoke-free working environment.
