About the job

SUPERPOWERS WANTED!

Are you a superhero in the field of special pedagogy, then now is your chance to become part of the Solsikken special kindergarten.

Due to an increase in the number of children, we are seeking a skilled educator for a fixed-term position. At first the position runs from December 1, 2026 to July 31, 2027, with the possibility of extension.

At our place everyone has superpowers

In Solsikken we receive children aged 0-6 years who, due to significant and lasting psychological and/or physical functional limitations, have a special need for pedagogical support and treatment that cannot be met in a regular day care facility. A hallmark of the children is that they need to be in a protected special-pedagogical treatment environment. At Solsikken we believe that all children contain unique superpowers. Here, children have the opportunity to discover, develop and use their strengths in an environment where they are seen, heard and taken seriously.

A key focus area is Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC). We know that every child has a right to a language – and with us we create frameworks where children can express themselves through signs, pictures, communication boards, technology and body language. In this way every child gets the opportunity to have their voice heard. At Solsikken the staff have relevant education and courses that support the child’s communication.

We in Solsikken focus on good, constructive parent collaboration, where we believe that parents are the most important sparring partner regarding the child’s well-being.

Structure and predictability are part of our superpower as adults. We plan the day so that the children experience calm, recognizability and clarity. At the same time we create room for play, curiosity and togetherness.

In Solsikken we believe that the adults are responsible for the good relationship with the children.

We do not see limitations, but potentials. Our task is to support the children in believing in themselves, daring to take steps forward and feeling the joy of being part of a safe community.

In short - we help the children find and use their superpowers.

As an employee at Solsikken you must have a big heart for the special needs field and participate in a close and committed multidisciplinary collaboration.

  • good collaboration skills and ability to engage in close and committed multidisciplinary collaboration both internally and externally
