As the leading chief nurse you will have overall responsibility for the care of the department's inpatients as well as staff responsibility for about 35 employees. The staff group primarily consists of nurses and social and health care assistants and includes among others educators, therapists and activity staff. We place great emphasis on providing the best possible care and treatment with high professional quality.

About the job

As the leading chief nurse you have responsibility for the budget, operations and staffing in the ward. You must ensure stable daily operations while maintaining focus on professional quality, development, work environment and patient safety.

A central part of the position is the dual leadership. You will therefore be part of a close and committed collaboration with the chief physician to create coherent and optimal patient pathways as well as a well‑functioning patient flow in the ward. You also actively contribute to the department's strategic and cross‑cutting leadership tasks.

You will also become part of a strong professional and collegial community with the other leading chief nurses in General Psychiatry, Aalborg, where knowledge sharing, sparring and joint development are natural elements of the collaboration.

About you

We expect that you

• Are a trained nurse; psychiatric experience is an advantage, but not a requirement
• Have leadership experience and either have completed or wish to complete a leadership education at diploma level
• Can lead based on nursing's core tasks: execution, development, leadership and dissemination of nursing
• Can create structure in a busy daily life while promoting development and innovation
• Can motivate and inspire staff to professional development, responsibility and engagement
• Have strong collaboration skills, decisiveness and good dialogue competencies
• Have a focus on a good working environment; a work environment education is an advantage or desired to be completed
• Can balance the consideration of relationships with the demands for results
• Take shared responsibility for quality and patient safety
• Work independently, purposefully and structured

About the ward

S2 is an open adult psychiatric inpatient ward with 18 beds located in Hospital City in Aalborg. We diagnose and treat young adults (18–35 years) with psychotic disorders and complex issues.

We work in a structured way with

• Individual care and treatment plans
• Involvement of patients and relatives
• Interdisciplinary collaboration

You will become part of a broadly composed staff group including doctors, psychologists, nurses, social and health care assistants, therapists and social workers.

General Psychiatry Department, Aalborg is a general psychiatric clinic with both open and intensive inpatient wards, psychiatric emergency department and an extensive outpatient function.

The clinic is organized into four areas

• Anxiety and Personality Psychiatry
• Psychotic disorders

The practical

• We will obtain references for the person we wish to hire. If required for the position, we also obtain a criminal record and child‑care certificate.
• Salary and employment terms in accordance with the current agreement for leading personnel in the Health Cartel area entered into with Danish Nurses' Organization (Dansk Sygeplejeråd).
• The position is, as a rule, 37 hours per week. The possibility to adjust the working time can be discussed.
• Education of students and pupils is one of the core tasks in the General Psychiatry Department, Aalborg, and all staff contribute to this task.
• In the North Jutland Region we have smoke‑free working hours.
