About the job

Do you want to work with veterinary medicines before they reach the market and have a direct influence on which treatments animals in Denmark and Europe gain access to? At the Danish Medicines Agency you will be part of a highly specialized professional environment, where you collaborate with national and European experts on the assessment of future veterinary medicines.

Here you translate your veterinary expertise into independent assessments that help ensure effective and safe medicines for animals. You work at the intersection of clinical practice, research, regulation and regulatory work and gain insight into the latest veterinary treatments and technologies long before they become part of clinical practice.

Your primary tasks

You will spend most of your time evaluating applications for approval and changes of veterinary medicines, including collaboration with European medicines authorities and the EMA on veterinary medicines assessment. In addition, you will handle professional advisory services, respond to inquiries and other authority tasks related to medicines for animals, development of professional processes, guidelines and other tasks in the section.

Your specific areas of responsibility will be composed according to your qualifications and experience.

Most of your time will be focused on

  • Assessing documentation for new applications for animal drug approvals, changes to existing approvals as well as assessment of drug residues in food and the environment.
  • Contributing to the assessment of clinical efficacy, pharmacology, toxicology, safety and use of veterinary medicines.
  • Collaborating with European medicines authorities and the EMA on the assessment of medicines for animals.
  • In the long term contributing to the development of national and European guidelines and authority processes.

A smaller part of your day will consist of the section’s other tasks, including assessment of distribution permits, handling potential supply difficulties and answering technical questions from companies, veterinarians, the press and other authorities.

Your everyday life with us

In your potential future job you will have broad contact interfaces both internally, nationally and internationally. You will work closely with experienced colleagues with backgrounds in clinical practice, research, the pharmaceutical industry and regulatory work. We place high priority on professional sparring, and you will be thoroughly introduced to the tasks and receive support from experienced colleagues along the way.

You will also be responsible for your own cases, but you will never be alone. We solve many tasks collectively and actively use each other’s knowledge when facing complex professional challenges.

The everyday life is characterized by high professionalism, curiosity and the desire to learn new things. We have many engaging professional discussions and challenge each other constructively to ensure the best possible assessments. At the same time, we prioritize a good working environment where helpfulness, humor and collaboration are a natural part of the daily life.

Your education, experience and personal qualifications

You are a trained veterinarian, cand.scient.vet.

It is a requirement that you master English at a high level both orally and in writing, as a substantial part of the work takes place in international collaboration.

It is an advantage, but not a requirement, if you have experience with one or more of the areas below:

  • Research experience, e.g. from a PhD or other research activity
  • Immunology, infectious diseases, virology or other relevant veterinary medical disciplines,
  • Public authorities’ service or regulatory work
  • Clinical practice in production animals, horses or companion animals
  • The pharmaceutical industry or other relevant parts of the life science sector.

In addition, we would like you to

  • Thrive on analyzing and evaluating complex veterinary professional issues.
  • Be able to balance professional thoroughness with pragmatic solutions.
  • Work in a structured way and be able to handle several cases and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Have good collaboration skills and thrive in an environment with close professional sparring.
  • Be able to convey professional assessments clearly and precisely in both Danish and English.
  • Be curious and motivated to continuously develop your competences

We offer
