About the job
Would you like to help educate the neurologists of tomorrow and at the same time influence the development of the future health care system? We are seeking an engaged specialist in neurology for a position as Educational Chief Physician (uddannelsesansvarlig overlæge) in the Department of Brain and Nervous Diseases at Amager and Hvidovre Hospital.
Who are we?
The Department of Brain and Nervous Diseases opened on May 1, 2026 and has in a short time become a well-functioning neurological department with a strong professional and collegial foundation. We provide acute and elective neurological care at a main function level for citizens in the Southern Planning Area with a catchment area of approximately 610,000 residents.
We have gotten off to a very good start and now have established clinical functions and workflows. At the same time we place great emphasis on a strong collegial community, where we help each other in daily life and prioritize close collaboration across subspecialties and professional groups.
We focus on high professional quality, evidence-based practice, research, coherent patient pathways, strong interdisciplinary collaboration, and job satisfaction. We want a department where high professionalism goes hand in hand with a good working environment, and where we together take responsibility for both the patients and each other.
We highly value education and competence development. Supervision and bedside teaching of younger doctors, other staff, and medical students are therefore an integral part of the work. You are also expected to contribute to the department’s research activities as well as relevant administrative and organizational tasks.
The department is in the first years physically located on the Glostrup campus as part of Amager and Hvidovre Hospital. We expect to move in 2029 to newly renovated surroundings at Hvidovre Hospital.
About the department
The department comprises two neurological ward units, namely stroke and general neurology, a neurological rehabilitation unit, and an admission and observation unit.
In addition, we have subspecialized outpatient clinics in headache, movement disorders, epilepsy, dementia, stroke, brain cancer, and multiple sclerosis, as well as a subacute diagnostic outpatient clinic.
We are about 300 staff, including 25 specialists, about 20 training doctors, 5 clinical lecturers, and a growing research unit.
We provide education to doctors and medical students at several levels and have a close collaboration between clinic, education, and research.
The department is currently located at Glostrup Hospital and is expected to move in 2029 to renovated facilities at Hvidovre Hospital.
About the position
As Educational Chief Physician you will play a central role in ensuring and further developing a strong, ambitious, and safe learning environment for the department’s training doctors.
