And would you be part of a leadership community where there is room to dream, high engagement and willingness to be aligned, because we succeed better together? Then come and be part of it.

At the teacher education at the Copenhagen University College of Professional Higher Education (KP) we are in full swing to implement and develop the teacher education in the light of the latest reform, which took effect in August 2023.

Currently we are well underway with an inclusive process where we take stock of our experiences to develop and strengthen the coherence, quality and progression of the teacher education for the students. We are focused on strengthening the coherence for the student through the education as well as in relation to the teaching profession and the school. At the same time we focus on supporting and further developing professional communities for both students, teachers/employees and the leadership.

We are seeking educational leaders who have experience with professional and pedagogical leadership and the courage to set frameworks and direction for the community and create space for involvement and participation.

About the job

As an educational leader your primary task will be to manage the leadership of one or more subject groups in teacher education, including personnel management and tasks related to subject- and task distribution. In addition you will have responsibility for cross-cutting tasks in the education.

You will join a management group with a total of nine educational leaders, a secretary-general and a research leader, where all report to the institute head. We in the management group are in the process of clarifying how best to allocate subject groups and tasks. Your concrete areas of responsibility will be agreed based on your interests and experiences in interaction with the management group’s overall competencies.

Academic leadership is an important element in KP’s strategy. At the Institute for Teacher Education we work with academic leadership closely with the professional environments that constitute the school’s subjects and core subjects as well as in relation to the individual employee.

  • Participate in the ongoing development of the interaction between the subjects and the integrated practicum, which is one of the cornerstones of teacher education
  • Manage academic and operational leadership tasks related to subject- and task distribution, annual planning etc.
  • Take on the role as line manager for staff within subject groups/subject environments
  • Contribute to setting the direction for teacher education in collaboration with KP's strategy for teacher education
  • Engage in cross-cutting collaboration with other programs and the resource area at KP
  • Contribute to further developing collaboration and coherence in the management group

About you – your professional profile

You have a relevant academic education at minimum master's level, very preferably supplemented with a leadership qualification. We also place value on your leadership experience from the education sector.

In addition we imagine that you

  • Have experience leading teachers and knowledge workers at an educational institution
  • Have knowledge of primary/elementary schools, the teaching profession and the competencies demanded by our stakeholders
  • Are engaged in the task of developing a good teacher education and are good at involving and engaging students, staff and partners in the development
  • Have competencies to participate in the construction of new professional environments around the newly started professional master's programs
  • Are focused on educational development, including strengthening the interaction between teaching, development and research
  • Are a clear leader who can set direction and justify your decisions while listening and making room for shared reflection
  • Are motivated to be part of a leadership group where dialogue, sparring and support are important for the community
