Educator at Abildgård Børnehus (Special Kindergarten)

Would you like to help create good childhoods and opportunities for participation for children who need something extra to succeed?

We are seeking an educator for 37 hours per week who becomes curious when something is difficult. An educator who looks beyond the behavior, believes in children's development potential, and wants to develop their practice together with others.

About us

At Abildgård Børnehus you will meet children aged 0-6 who need special support and special pedagogical interventions in order to participate and develop. With us, no two children are the same. Therefore there are no standard solutions.

We are approved as a § 83 provision under the Children’s Act and a § 4 provision under the Day-care Act. With us, children with different developmental prerequisites, disabilities and needs for special support participate. With us, children should first and foremost experience being children. They should play, explore, participate in communities and experience successes in their daily lives.

The kindergarten house is organized into four rooms, where children join smaller communities with safe adults and a high level of special educational expertise. But we see ourselves as one house and therefore help each other across and share both knowledge, ideas and responsibility for the children.

We believe that all children do well when they can. When something becomes difficult for a child, our first task is not to change the child, but to investigate how we can adjust our learning environments, relationships and pedagogical practices.

The special thing about working with us is that no day is the same, and no child fits a finished recipe. It takes curiosity, creativity and professional reflection to find paths when something is difficult. In return, you get the opportunity to make a real difference for children who need us to stay curious and persistent.

Professional reflection and documentation

You should be eager to work systematically with documentation through, among other things, DPU, development descriptions and action plans.

For us, documentation is not something that comes alongside the pedagogical work. Documentation is an integrated part of our professional practice. It helps us understand the children's development, qualify our pedagogical choices and create shared reflection on our practice.

The practical

The position is 37 hours per week with employment from November 1st or as soon as possible thereafter. Our opening hours are from 6:00 to 16:30. Once a month we hold a staff meeting outside opening hours, and in addition there is one pedagogical day per year. It falls on a Saturday.

Employment process

Application deadline is 18 October 2026. We expect to conduct interviews on 22 October.

A child and criminal background check will be obtained in connection with employment. References will also be obtained prior to hire.
