Educator for a fixed-term position

We are seeking 1 qualified educator for the special area as of December 1.

The position is a maternity leave cover for 37 hours.

We are a public school with 4 special classes for ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorders). We include some of our students in the general curriculum, and the students will be able to move up to FSA in some subjects, either in the general area or in our own ASF-Class regime, but under normal terms.

We have approximately 55 students distributed across 4 classes from 2nd to 10th grade. This position will predominantly be connected to middle school and upper grade students.

Therefore we are seeking a very specific person who

• is robust and has the energy to face daily challenges
• must be able to travel to students who need home visits due to school refusal
• has special educational knowledge and/or training in autism spectrum disorders
• has a special educational approach aimed at addressing each individual student’s challenges
• can jump between different parts of the ASD department as needed, as we strive to be a large unit for the benefit of the students
• can implement planned teaching
• works according to our values: Joy, Recognizing approach, Well-being and Responsibility
• has good collaboration skills and is loyal in all relationships
• has patience and understanding that development and change take time and perseverance

We are a well-functioning public school with about 400 students and about 50 engaged teachers/inclusion educators, an active after-school program, open leadership and a positive school board/parent circle. Nystad School works with the Nest approach.

We have students from 0th grade to 9th grade and the possibility of 10th grade in ASF-Class regime.
