About the job

Would you like to be a pedagogue at a workplace where professionalism, development, offbeat ideas and good laughter go hand in hand?

Are you eager to make a difference where your pedagogical expertise, your curiosity and your view of people can be felt in daily life? Are you passionate about creating meaningful activities, development and joy of life for people with developmental disabilities? And do you thrive in a professional community where we think innovatively, help each other and laugh together?

Then read on – perhaps you are the one we are looking for at Bakkevænget in group 4.

About the job

Your new everyday life – in group 4

We are seeking a pedagogue for 35-37 hours per week for group 4, where the citizens mainly require autism-specific pedagogical support.

In group 4, structure, predictability and a good understanding of each individual’s needs are decisive. You must be able to read signals, work preventively and be ahead of the citizens’ arousal and well-being.

Daily life can also present situations where a citizen becomes frustrated or experiences high arousal, and where the communication can become intense or verbally outward. Here your task is to remain calm, be curious about what lies behind the reaction, and use your pedagogical expertise to prevent and create security.

We work with Low Arousal and emphasize understanding behavior as communication. Together with your colleagues you are involved in finding the solutions that make sense for the individual citizen.

About us

Bakkevænget is an activity and learning facility under the Danish Service Act § 104 for adults with developmental disabilities. About 90 citizens meet here each week to be part of a community, learn new things, explore their interests and experience the joy of activities and social interaction.

The citizens are between 18 and 80 years old and have very different life experiences, prerequisites and support needs. This requires us as professionals – but also offers a daily life full of opportunities to make a difference.

We are based in Brejning, where the history of the old Kellerske institutions is still part of the area’s special atmosphere. Bakkevænget is part of Postens Vej, and therefore we have close cooperation between day and night services. We also have citizens who come from home or from other services.

We work from the value -

"Master of my own house – a life of learning." This means that we meet the citizens with respect, presence and high professionalism.

As a pedagogue you will help create framework conditions where citizens have the opportunity to use their competencies, develop new skills, make choices and experience that they are meaningful participants in their own lives.

We work with neuro-pedagogy, LA2U, KRAP, ASK and sensory integration as professional approaches in our work. We are focused on understanding the individual person and adapting our pedagogy so it makes sense for the specific citizen we are working with.

We believe that professionalism makes a difference – especially when translated into action in meeting the individual person.

We are looking for you who

  • Is a warm-hearted and presence-rich pedagogue who meets citizens with respect, calm and curiosity.
  • Has experience with – and passion for – the autism-specific field.
  • Has good knowledge of Low Arousal and understands how important it is to prevent rather than react.
  • Can create structure and predictability while being mindful of the individual’s needs.
  • Works holistically and prioritizes close, professional collaboration with colleagues, residential facilities and relatives.
  • Can take initiative, start activities and follow up so that good ideas become reality.
  • Contributes actively to professional sparring, reflection and development – and dares to share your ideas with us.

You do not need to have all the answers in advance. But you should want to be curious, ask questions and together with your colleagues find the solutions that make sense for the citizens.

You will be part of a strong community

At Bakkevænget we are about 30 dedicated employees who every day work to create a meaningful and developmental daily life for the citizens.

We are proud of our professionalism, but we also know that we become better together. We make use of each other’s different competencies, challenge our habits and are open to new perspectives and ideas.

When we ask our colleagues what characterizes everyday life at Bakkevænget, they highlight among other things:

  • A strong professional environment and a close collegial community.
  • A varied working day with room for creativity and new initiatives.
  • Curiosity about each other and a desire to use each other’s competencies.
  • Humor, laughter and space to be yourself.
  • A shared focus on creating the best possible opportunities for the citizens.

We have a daily life where professionalism, engagement and innovative thinking go hand in hand – and where we are continually working to become even better.

We look forward to welcoming a new colleague who wants to contribute to and develop this community.
