Educator for the Comet at Kofoedsminde

Do you want to use your pedagogical professional expertise and creativity to create a meaningful everyday life for our residents? We are looking for someone who can build relationships, stimulate interest and help the individual resident to want to participate.

Kometen is Kofoedsminde's employment and activity offering. Here we provide residents with the opportunity for an active and meaningful everyday life outside their housing unit in safe and inspiring surroundings.

A good day at Kometen can look different from resident to resident. For one, it's finding calm and engaging in a creative activity. For another, it's gaining the courage to try something new.

At Kometen we view the possibilities together with the resident and adapt the activities based on the residents' interests, resources and needs, so the individual can participate and experience success.

You will become part of the overall team at Kometen. We help each other across, and you must therefore be willing to work across the workshops.

At Kometen you get great influence when you plan and carry out activities, where you use both your pedagogical professionalism and your creativity. Together with your colleagues you create opportunities for participation and influence, which support residents in maintaining and developing their skills. The work takes its starting point in each resident's goals and sub-goals, which you continuously follow up on and document.

You work closely with the housing departments and other professional groups on the individual resident. In this way you contribute to a coherent pedagogical effort that makes a difference in the residents' daily lives.

At Kometen you become part of a dedicated team focused on professionalism, collaboration and safety. As part of Denmark's only secure institution for court-ordered adults with developmental disabilities, you will have the opportunity to develop your professionalism in a highly specialized area.

The position is full-time and the working hours are initially Monday to Thursday 7:15–15:15 and Friday 7:15–12:15. There may be evening and weekend work to a lesser extent. Salary and employment terms follow the applicable collective agreement.

We are looking for a trained educator

Our residents are adults with developmental disabilities and complex challenges, therefore we emphasize that you:

• Are curious about people, trust-building and persistent in relationship work
• Work with low arousal and are mindful of your own calm, communication and behavior
• Maintain composure and act professionally, even in conflict-filled or unpredictable situations
• Are flexible and thrive in cross-disciplinary collaboration
• Can adapt your approach and your expectations to the individual
• Translate your pedagogical knowledge into professional reflections and ideas for activities
• Take initiative and run with the ball to get activities and collaboration to work in daily life

It is an advantage if you have experience with people with special needs, as well as experience with creative activities in an educational/pedagogical setting.

Starting salary for employees covered by collective agreements

The region is obliged to inform you about the starting salary for the position. You will be informed of the base salary, centrally set allowances and pension in the relevant collective agreement. In addition to the starting salary, the pay may include any negotiated allowances depending on the position, your experience and qualifications.
