About the job

Team V is seeking two pedagogues – make a difference close to the individual student

What happens when you as a pedagogue get time for the individual student, freedom to use your professional expertise and space to test your ideas?

Team V is a special school for children and young people with different needs and prerequisites. Here you will have solid staff resources, pedagogical freedom and close professional collaboration.

You get close to the students and have the opportunity to notice the small steps, find what works, and help create development, learning and life mastery.

Your daily life will be varied. You work both with students in the school's community and in individually tailored programs when a student needs a special framework around their development and learning.

We are a specialized school offering for students with extensive general and specific learning difficulties. Some students need extensive support for communication and participation, others for social relationships, learning, motor skills, independence or regulation.

We have good staffing resources around the students, providing the opportunity to come close to the individual student and work purposefully with the student’s development.

As a pedagogue you, together with the teacher, help set the direction. You work with communication, relationships, independence, participation, learning, social skills and regulation and with what will give the student the best possible conditions, not just for the school but for life.

We work closely together and have weekly team meetings with room for professional reflection, different perspectives and new ideas. We value that you bring your professionalism, your ideas and what you are especially passionate about into the shared work around the students.

Here, a small development can be a big development

That a student for the first time takes the initiative themselves. Finds a way to say "again". Can wait a little longer. Participates in an activity. Manages a small part of daily life by themselves or decodes the reading code with great pride.

You will have time to notice it and, together with your colleagues, to continue working on the next step.

About Team V

Our students are children and young people with developmental disabilities and various physical and mental impairments. They are first and foremost different children and young people with their own personalities, interests, resources and ways of being in the world. The students range from 0th to 10th grade and have very different development levels and prerequisites, which do not necessarily follow their age or grade level.

The students have different prerequisites and needs for support. Therefore our pedagogical work starts from the individual student. We are curious about what motivates, what succeeds, and what the next step in the student’s development can be.

For some students structure, recognizability and visual support are crucial. For others, communication, relationships, sensory regulation, motor skills, independence or participation in communities matters most.

Teaching in Danish and mathematics at an early academic level is also part of the school day for some of our students. Here we work creatively and concretely with letters, words, reading, numbers and quantities and tailor the teaching to the student’s prerequisites, interests and way of learning.

It can be a completely ordinary day with us

  • A student suddenly does something they don’t usually do. What was the difference? The observation is carried forward into the work on the student’s next development goal.
  • An activity doesn’t work exactly as planned. We adjust the structure, visual support or work routines, try again and look for what makes the situation more manageable and meaningful.
  • A student’s interest in water, music, letters or something else is seized and used as an entry point into contact, communication and learning.
  • A student discovers the connection between a letter and a sound, reads a small word or masters a quantity or a number. The teaching is made concrete and creative so the student can experience the joy of learning and succeed with something new.
  • Something from the team meeting is tried out. Maybe it works. Maybe it doesn’t. Both make us wiser about the student.
  • A teacher, a pedagogical staff member, therapist or psychologist sees something differently. The perspectives meet, and together we determine what the next step should be.
  • A conversation with the family provides new insight into something that works at home or vice versa. School and family know the child from each side, and we actively use that knowledge.
  • A small idea grows. Maybe into an activity, a new visual material or another way to organize something. There is room to generate ideas and implement them.
  • And on some days we succeed in what we have been working on for a long time. A student does a little more independently, seeks another or finds a new way to be understood. Then we know why the small steps are worth working for.

The framework helps us succeed

Good staffing resources, time for preparation and weekly team meetings enable us to work professionally and purposefully with what we see.

Preparation time makes it possible to plan and tailor activities, develop materials and follow up on the students’ development, both independently and together with colleagues.

The tasks change as the students’ needs change. At times the work may be organized as a closely focused individual program around a student, and there may also be tasks with teaching and pedagogical support in the student’s home . You are not alone with the task. The efforts are planned and followed up in close collaboration with colleagues and relevant professionals.

Our specialized pedagogical practice is structured and visually supported, and there is room for different perspectives, interests and ideas.

Special-pedagogical experience is not a prerequisite. Pedagogical professionalism, engagement and the desire to learn more about the students is a very good place to start.

There is an opportunity for relevant professional development in special education.
