About the job

Do you thrive in change processes, and are you motivated to make an impact on pedagogical practice? Then Kålormen may be the perfect place for you.

Although we have had the same address for many years, we are facing a completely new beginning.

Kålormen is an integrated day care institution in Nørrebro in Copenhagen, and we are now going to start a major change process. We will establish new age-integrated groups that cross ages, and at the same time we will get new colleagues and a new pedagogical leader.

That means we not only need to change our organization. We must develop the pedagogical organization together and create a daily life where children, parents and staff experience clarity, security and the opportunity to succeed.

Therefore we are looking for you who want to help create something new – together with us who are already here.

We are not afraid of change

We know that a major change process contains both opportunities and challenges. Therefore, it is important for us to form a team where we can use each other’s professional insights, experiences and perspectives.

We are passionate about pedagogical work, and we are very aware that our role as adults has significance for children’s lives and their future development.

With us you will have the opportunity to make your professional mark on practice. In Nord Klynge E we work with professional behavior and a shared professional language, because we believe that the quality for the children is closely linked to the quality of our work community.

For us, it’s not about everyone doing everything in the same way. It’s about having a common understanding of what we are together about – and being able to translate that understanding into everyday action.

We must keep the pace together

In Nord Klynge E we have a strong focus on the work community. As part of this we work with behavior cards, which give us a common language for the professional behavior we want to see in our work community.

We initially work with five cards: The Metronome, The Balance Buff, The Co-pilot, The Kindness, The Tank Driver and The Competence Swapper.

The cards help us put words to different aspects of what is needed for us to succeed together.

The Metronome reminds us of the importance of recognizability, rhythm and shared structure. We believe that children need adults who create a safe and predictable everyday life, because it provides good conditions for mastery and development.

The Co-pilot helps us see ourselves and each other from the outside. Where do we come from? Where are we? And where are we headed? It’s about being able to lift our gaze from the single situation and be curious about what it takes to move forward.

The Competence Swapper is about becoming more skilled when we share our knowledge and learn from each other. We do not all have to be able to do the same, but we all must contribute to the community and be willing to both give and receive.

The Balance Buff is about all of us contributing to the community. We usually say that everyone should bring a little more to the buffet than they take themselves. Some bring the remoulade, others the pie, the salad or the bread. The crucial thing is that together we create a surplus community where there is something to pass on to each other.

And then there is the Kindness. Kindness is part of everything we do. We treat each other properly, are curious about what we ourselves do, and about what others bring into play. We speak kindly to each other – even when we disagree.

For us, kindness is not the same as being in agreement – it is the way we disagree.

We also have to look after each other

We know that it requires energy to be part of a large change process.

The Tank Driver makes us aware of how we take care of the “tank” we use during the day. We help each other take care of ourselves and each other, because we know that adults with surplus create better development opportunities for the children.

That doesn’t mean every day will be easy. It means that we should be able to talk about what is difficult, ask for help, give each other space and take responsibility for our shared working life.

Who do we hope you are?

You are a trained pedagogue, professionally curious and focused on creating quality for children.

You see the child’s perspective as the starting point for your work, and you know that relationships, play and clear adults are decisive for children’s development.

You can translate your professional knowledge into practice and create follower-ship through dialogue rather than checklists. You are good at collaborating and want to develop both yourself and the practice you are a part of.

And you take responsibility for the community.

You do not need to be an expert in change. But you must want to be an active part of it.

We build the work community together

In Kålormen we want a culture where we are curious about our own practice, and where we help each other succeed.

We know that quality does not arise by itself, but is created when we examine our practice, give each other honest professional feedback and dare to question what we usually do.

Therefore we are working to create more space for reflection, feedback and common expectations.

We are not looking for colleagues who expect a perfect workplace, but we are looking for colleagues who want to help create it.

For we believe that a strong work community is not something you take over; it is something you build together.

We want a work community where you can both challenge and support each other, where different perspectives are taken seriously, and where we again and again return to the most important question: What is best for the children right now?

Maybe it is you we are missing?

If you want to be part of an institution where you have the opportunity to influence a large pedagogical development, and where we take the professionalism, the children and each other seriously, we would love to hear from you.

The children at Kålormen are specifically missing you – so do not hesitate to apply for a new pedagogical challenge with us.

We look forward to reading your application and perhaps welcoming you to the team.
