About the job

Full-time position – permanent appointment from January 1, 2027

Hjemly Idrætsefterskole is a school in development. Here colleagues help each other, and sport, teaching and community fit together. Now we are seeking a football teacher who will be part of it.

What makes Hjemly attractive?

With us you get

  • the opportunity to work with 50 ambitious football players
  • a strong football professional team
  • the opportunity to shape and develop the football line
  • close collaboration between school and football
  • 241 engaged students and 25 colleagues
  • a everyday life where relationships, sport and teaching go hand in hand

It all rests on our core task

"We want, through appreciative relationships and a safe community, to create the framework for you to develop socially, academically, personally and athletically."

Efterskole teacher first – football coach afterwards

As a football line teacher you will be an important part of the students' everyday life – both on the field, in teaching and in the boarding school life. Therefore we are looking for a person who is as passionate about working with young people as about football.

For us, a good football line is not only about results. It is about each student developing themselves as a player and as a person. We have a training environment with high ambitions, where there is room for everyone who is passionate about developing their football talents. Students must learn team spirit, understand each other's differences and take responsibility for their own training and conduct.

Football at Hjemly

On the football line we have 50 boys distributed across the school's 3 teams. The teams play in the Efterskole tournament and in the School League.

We believe that the best results are created through close collaboration. Therefore we plan and develop our football line as a team and help each other with both the individual student and the overall player group. You will have influence on how the line develops, and you will be part of a team that openly discusses training, players and ideas with each other.

We work to ensure that what happens on the field is connected with what happens in the classroom and in the community at the school.

Teaching in school subjects

At Hjemly you have the opportunity to teach both in 9th grade and 10th grade.

9th grade follows the requirements for the compulsory school final exams. Here the goal is that the students are well prepared for the 9th grade final exam. You must therefore be able to lead the students to the exam in your subjects.

Hjemly 10 is our 10th grade. Here we teach in subject programs within three categories

  • Academic rigour – subject programs that strengthen the students' academic skills and prepare them for further education
  • Practical/Hands-on learning – subject programs where students learn through practical/creative subjects
  • Citizenship – subject programs where students work with democracy and community and their role in society

Homeroom teacher

As a homeroom teacher you will be responsible for 9–12 students and become an important adult in their boarding school year. You follow the students’ well-being, development and daily life and become their close sparring partner. You also have contact with the parents and collaborate with your colleagues about the individual student.

Working hours and boarding school life

A boarding school job is not a job from 8 to 16. In addition to teaching, training and matches you have supervision in the evenings and on weekends. It is here that many of the good relationships with the students arise. In addition there are matches, tournaments and trips with the football line. We emphasize that you get a workweek that fits with the rest of your life.

Who are you?

  • You have a relevant coaching qualification and experience coaching young people of this age.
  • You can plan training so that both the most talented and the less experienced players improve.
  • You see students as whole people. You notice when a student is not thriving and you have the conversation – even when it is difficult.
  • You can teach in either 9th grade or in 10th grade.
  • You are happy to share your ideas and to take others' ideas. You see the team as a strength.
  • You take initiative and want to help develop both the line and the school, but you can also adapt when plans change. It happens at an efterskole.
