About the job

We are establishing a new, central function that will strengthen Brøndby Municipality's overall emergency preparedness – both strategically and operationally. The role is both coordinating and driving: you connect the threads, motivate and advise professional areas, and help translate plans into practice. You will take control of processes, create structure and coherence across the organization, and ensure direction in close collaboration with the management, professional areas and external authorities. The position is newly created, so you have a good opportunity to shape and develop it.

Organisationally you will be placed in the Secretariat for Political Support in the Staff for Policy and Organization, but you will work closely with leadership and staff across all of the municipality’s staff and departments. The tasks are also currently handled in the Staff for Policy and Organization, where there is work right now with 3-day-on-call readiness and updating the Plan for Continued Operations – tasks you will follow up on.

Your primary tasks will be to

  • Drive and coordinate emergency preparedness work across departments, staff, institutions and external actors such as other authorities, civil society and business sectors.
  • Be the focal point for our Emergency Preparedness Forum, which consists of managers and employees from relevant professional areas.
  • Assist with planning, facilitating and evaluating emergency preparedness exercises for the crisis management team, the administrations and departments, and ensure knowledge sharing across the organization.
  • Prepare case materials, management briefs and political decision briefs.
  • Prepare 'Plan for Continued Operations', sub-plans and action plans.
  • Support the administrations' work with risk and vulnerability analyses and the development, implementation and maintenance of emergency plans, action cards, procedures, etc.
  • Be part of the engine room during incidents, where the crisis management team is activated, and facilitate learning and evaluation processes after incidents.

We expect that you

  • Have a relevant education and/or experience in emergency planning. This could be a professional bachelor’s degree as a disaster and risk manager or experience from a similar position in a municipality, emergency services or police.
  • Have experience with project management, coordination, advisory work and implementation of cross-cutting initiatives – preferably from a municipality or other public organization.
  • Are collaborative and good at building relationships across the organization and with external actors, and thrive as the link between leadership, professional areas and practical operational units.
  • Possess professional insight and knowledge in the emergency planning field.
  • Work in a structured and systematic manner and in accordance with rules and documentation in the public sector.
  • Can make complex emergency plans simple and usable in practice – and write clearly and precisely.
  • Can prioritize, follow up tasks to the letter, and maintain an overview.
  • Contribute with collaboration, professionalism and good collegial relations.

About us

You will become part of the Secretariat for Policy and Organization – the municipality's central staff – with approx. 40 employees and based at the Secretariat for Political Support.

The Secretariat for Policy and Organization works with supporting the top management and with HR, payroll, political support, legal advisory, communication and organizational development.

We prioritize well-being, collaboration and a strong professional environment. We help each other, share knowledge and take joint responsibility for the tasks. The level of ambition is high, the tone is informal and there is room for both professionalism and humor.

We offer

  • A position with a high degree of independence and the opportunity to influence tasks and solutions
  • An exciting and meaningful everyday life close to both top management, the political system and operations.
  • An working environment characterized by professionalism, humor and collaboration.
  • Competent, fun and sharp colleagues.
  • Flexible planning of work and opportunity for telework.
