About the job
Do you dream of a job where you not only sit behind a screen, but also go out and see the work in practice. With us you won't get a classic consulting job, but work with technology that is rarely found elsewhere. If you want to work with communication and data systems on some of Denmark's most advanced maritime platforms – and help shape the future Navy?
Then maybe you are the one we search for at the Maritime Capacity Center in the Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (FMI).
About the job
You will become part of an engineering team that works with communication and network solutions for the Royal Danish Navy ships and maritime units. This means you get close to both acquisitions and the existing fleet – from frigates and support ships to future maritime capabilities.
You will, among other things, work with
- Internet and other unclassified networks for the Navy's units
- Operation and further development of network and server hardware aboard Navy units
- Installation and integration of new communication and data systems
- Network security and technical compliance
- Technical sparring with shipyards, suppliers and operational users
- Procurement and implementation of new equipment for the Fleet Programme
- Participation in NATO collaborations and international working groups
You will thus have the opportunity to work with technical solutions that must work in practice – also when ships are at sea.
Close to reality
With us you are not only sitting behind a screen. You also go out and see and prepare solutions to work in practice.
That includes visits to
- The Navy's fleet bases in Frederikshavn and Korsør
- Danish and international shipyards
- Suppliers and partners at home and abroad
There will be travel activity corresponding to about 20-30 days per year.
About us
You will become part of a team with 11 engineers and specialists with strong expertise and an informal tone. We help each other, share knowledge and give room for both development and responsibility.
We offer
- Flexible work scheduling
- 37-hour work week including paid lunch break
- Opportunity for great influence over your own tasks
- A job with meaning and societal significance
About you
We assume you are a trained engineer – e.g. in IT, Networking, Computer Science, electrical or similar technical field. You do not need experience from the defence sector. The most important is that you have technical curiosity and a desire to learn. You have an understanding of networks, servers and protocols and thrive with responsibility and driving tasks forward. You can collaborate with technicians, users and suppliers and thrive in a daily life where tasks and priorities can change quickly.
It is an advantage if you also have knowledge of
- VoIP or telecommunications
- Media streaming and TV systems
- WIFI solutions
- IT/network security
- Requirements specifications and technical documentation
- Vendor management and technical projects
But these are not requirements, we will ensure you come aboard well.
Why this job is special
This is not a classic consulting job or a standard IT operations position. You become part of the work with the systems that support Danish maritime security – both in everyday life and in international operations. And you get the opportunity to work with technology rarely found elsewhere.
Employment terms
Employment is in accordance with the then-current collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic associations for academics in the state (Academic Collective Agreement).
Depending on your qualifications and competences, there is a possibility for negotiating a supplement. There is an employer-funded pension scheme attached to the position.
Workplace is in Ballerup
As an employee within the Defence Ministry's area you are subject to some special terms. You must, among other things, be security cleared and maintain the security clearance throughout the employment.
You as an employee have a duty to provide support with your technical competences outside the country, including at units in international operations with a view to participating in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peacebuilding, humanitarian and other similar operations.
