About the job

Do you dream of a job where you are not only behind a screen, but also go out and see the work in practice? With us you won't get a classic consultancy job, but a job with technology that is rarely found elsewhere. If you want to work with communication- and data systems on some of Denmark's most advanced maritime platforms – and help shape the future Navy?

Then it may be you we are looking for to the Maritime Capacity Center in the Danish Ministry of Defence's Agency for Defence Procurement and Materiel (FMI).

About the job

You will become part of an engineering team that works with communication- and network solutions for the Navy's ships and maritime units. This means you come close to both acquisitions and the existing fleet – from frigates and support ships to future maritime capabilities.

You will, among other things, work with

  • Internet and other unclassified networks for the Navy's units
  • Operations and further development of network- and server hardware on board the Navy's units
  • Installation and integration of new communication- and data systems
  • Network security and technical compliance
  • Technical sparring with shipyards, suppliers and operational users
  • Procurement and implementation of new equipment for the Fleet Program
  • Participation in NATO collaborations and international working groups

You thus get the opportunity to work with technical solutions that must work in practice – also when the ships are at sea.

Close to reality

With us you are not just sitting behind a screen. You also go out and see and prepare solutions to work in practice.

This includes visits to

  • The Navy's fleet bases in Frederikshavn and Korsør
  • Danish and international shipyards
  • Suppliers and partners at home and abroad

Travel activity will be approximately 20-30 days per year.

About us

You will become part of a team with 11 engineers and specialists with strong professional excellence and an informal tone. We help each other, share knowledge and give room for both development and responsibility.

We offer

  • Flexible work planning
  • 37-hour work week including paid lunch break
  • Opportunity for significant influence on your own tasks
  • A job with meaning and societal impact

About you

We expect that you are a trained engineer – e.g., in IT, Networking, Computer Science, Electronics or similar technical field. You do not need to have experience from the defence sector. The most important is that you have technical curiosity and a desire to learn. You have an understanding of networks, servers and protocols and thrive with responsibility and driving tasks forward. You can collaborate with technicians, users and suppliers and thrive in a daily life where tasks and priorities can change quickly.

It is an advantage if you also have knowledge of

  • VoIP or telecommunications
  • Mediastreaming and TV systems
  • WIFI solutions
  • IT/network security
  • Requirements specifications and technical documentation
  • Supplier management and technical projects

But these are not requirements; we will make sure to get you onboard well.

Why this job is special

This is not a classic consultancy job or a standard IT operations position. You will become part of the work with the systems that support Danish maritime security – both in daily operations and in international operations. And you will have the opportunity to work with technology that rarely exists elsewhere.

Terms of employment

The employment is governed by the current collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organizations for academics in the state (Academics Agreement).

Depending on your qualifications and competencies, there is an opportunity for negotiation of allowances. There is an employer-financed pension scheme attached to the position.

The workplace is in Ballerup

As an employee under the Ministry of Defence, you are subject to some special terms. You must, among other things, be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance throughout the employment.

As an employee you have a duty to provide support with your technical competencies outside the country, including at units in international operations for participation in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peacemaking, humanitarian and other similar operations.

Contact and application

If you want to hear more about the position, you are welcome to contact your upcoming mentor Claus Fahnøe at phone 2541 5221 or alternatively Johnny Sørensen, Capacity Manager Communications- & Link Systems at phone 2541 5369.

If you have questions about salary and employment terms, you are welcome to contact the Personnel Command, HR consultant Sofie Gadegaard at phone 3266 5585.
