Are you good at reading subtle signals and making contact with few words?

You have here the opportunity to get to know a happy, loving and charming 6-year-old girl through long weekend shifts. She is curious and observant, has lots of energy and needs a social work professional who understands autism and nonverbal communication.

About the task

The girl has infantil autism and developmental delay and communicates without verbal language. She indicates what she wants, for example by pointing, guiding you physically and using various sounds. She can become frustrated quickly if she is not understood, so an important part of the task is to learn her signals and be aware of what she is trying to communicate.

She enjoys, among other things, swinging, sliding, jumping on a trampoline and going to the playground. Your task is to follow her in what she wants to do, help with the practical needs that arise along the way, and stay close to her. She cannot assess potential dangers herself and therefore needs close supervision. There may also be opportunities to go on trips with the family.

The task also involves personal care in the form of diaper changing.

In the beginning you will take plenty of time to get to know each other. The onboarding takes place gradually together with the parents, and when the girl has become comfortable with you, you will carry out the task without their presence.

About you

You have relevant experience with autism and nonverbal communication and are good at observing and reading small signals. You are curious about the girl's way of communicating and have the patience to learn her individual expressions of wishes and needs. You can be a pedagogue or have another relevant background.

Working hours

The position is 20 hours per month, spread over two weekend shift days of 10 hours each. The specific days and meeting times are agreed with the family.

At the start the shifts will be shorter, about 2 hours at a time, so the girl has time to get to know you. In the beginning the parents will be with you, and as the relationship and sense of safety build, you will be alone with the girl.
