About the job
Are you educated in natural sciences and would you like to work with fishing, aquaculture facilities and environmental assessments? Then you may be our new colleague in the Danish Environmental Protection Agency's team for Fisheries Permits.
About us
The Environmental Protection Agency's Office for Quota Administration and Fisheries Permits has 22 employees in three sections under the leadership of three section heads and one head of office. We administer, manage and ensure the professional basis for the administration of fish quotas as well as the various permits associated with commercial fishing, aquaculture of fish and shellfish, and the establishment of biogenic reefs.
In the office environment you will work together with other professional groups such as lawyers and generalists, among others. Many of our tasks are solved in collaboration with our fishery control, and our colleagues in the ministry and in dialogue with stakeholders in the area.
It is a professional area with strong political focus and many development tasks in the coming years.
Your tasks
As our new natural sciences colleague you will be part of the team that works with permits for commercial fishing, experimental fishing and biogenic reefs, where, as part of the permits, an environmental assessment of activities must take place in relation to for example Natura 2000, protected species and the water environment. Your tasks will include developing administrative practices in relation to the environmental assessments and participating in the team's tasks of issuing concrete permits for commercial fishing.
Depending on qualifications and preferences there is the possibility to take on or contribute to other tasks in the team's overall portfolio.
Your qualifications
We expect you to
- Be educated in natural sciences and have experience with significance assessments and the habitat regulations as well as environmental assessments.
- Be systematic and thorough in your work.
- Be a skilled communicator in both writing and speaking, who can translate and distill complex knowledge into an easily understandable form.
- Be a team player who, with curiosity and proactivity, takes responsibility for the joint and cross-disciplinary task solving.
- Move easily between the overview and the detail; you quickly identify the essential elements in a complex knowledge base and can communicate challenges and potential solutions.
- Thrive with several different tasks, including the more routine ones related to issuing permits.
- Can navigate a politically driven organisation and have a sense that your results are used by colleagues in the office, by stakeholders, and in our department.
We also expect that you want to work cross-disciplinarily with deeply engaged colleagues to solve our task of ensuring the professional basis to be able to manage the fishery sector in relation to the environmental conditions.
