About the job

Are you a skilled Release Manager who can balance ITIL processes and society-critical systems with an agile development culture? Do you want to be the link between business, technology and operations, and ensure that our citizen-facing and society-critical IT systems run stably and securely? Then you may be our new Release Manager.

Your upcoming main tasks

For a central role in the Office of Development Projects (KUP) in Corporate IT we are seeking a Release Manager who masters the balance between fast, continuous deliveries and robust risk management of our society-critical systems. The role includes overall responsibility to plan, coordinate and manage our release cycles and windows. You must ensure a smooth transition from development to operations, so new features and fixes reach production safely without disrupting day-to-day business.

Your primary tasks will be to

  • Establish and optimize release processes
  • Develop and maintain our release calendar and ensure synchronization across the organization.
  • Facilitate dialogue between agile development teams, external suppliers, management and colleagues from operations.
  • Establish and drive CAB (Change Advisory Board) in close collaboration with our Change manager
  • Prepare decision papers, assess risks and ensure go/no-go decisions
  • Ensure that all test runs, rollback plans and documentation are in place before a release goes into production.
  • Drive post-implementation reviews (PIR) to optimize future releases.

Many of Corporate IT's deliveries require collaboration with a range of stakeholders - the overall IT organization in the EU (eu-LISA), the ministry, the Danish Immigration Service, the Danish Return Service and the Agency for International Recruitment and Integration as well as other relevant Danish authorities. Therefore it is important that you can adapt your way of being depending on context and personalities.

Your profile

We are looking for a pragmatic and process-oriented profile who can create momentum and overview, even when the system landscape and dependencies are complex.

We expect that you

  • have a relevant IT-related education (e.g., Cand.it, data technologist or similar) supplemented with solid experience in Release Management, ITIL or IT project management.
  • have practical experience with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira or similar).
  • are strong in stakeholder management and can translate complex technical issues into business value.
  • can work in a structured way with change governance , without hampering the agile workflows.
  • experience from the public sector or another heavily regulated sector is a big advantage.

You will work closely with many capable colleagues from Corporate IT including our Change Manager, Test Team, Platform Team in Software Factory and a number of solution architects dedicated to concrete deliveries. Therefore we expect you to have a strong focus on co-creation, ensure the necessary dialogue across the organization and facilitate the path to a successful delivery of software. There must be structure created that would strengthen employees' and leaders' ability to make the decisions that drive IT deliveries to the finish line and thereby create value for our organization.

Your upcoming workplace

You will become part of Corporate IT, which organizationally is part of the Danish Immigration Service. In Corporate IT we are about 90 skilled and dedicated employees responsible for the operation, maintenance and further development of the system portfolio used in the Ministry of Immigration and Integration.

In KUP you will have 24 dedicated, helpful and professional colleagues as well as an engaged manager.

We are located centrally in Copenhagen near Nyhavn. You sit close to your colleagues in an open-plan office, where there is ongoing sparring about tasks in a dynamic and energetic manner.

You will get good development opportunities and a lot of flexibility, so you can balance professional ambitions and private life. In addition you will be offered any relevant further training and certifications.
