About the job

As an occupational therapist at the Psychiatric Center Sct. Hans in Roskilde, you contribute every day to making a difference for our patients, who are a completely unique target group: People who have both a mental disorder and a legal measure.

About us

Section D2 is a closed forensic-psychiatric ward in Udsigten , which is Denmark's largest forensic psychiatry. We have room for 16 patients and work closely together in interdisciplinary contact teams.

The patients have an average length of stay of 4-5 years, and the primary purpose of admission is to prevent new crime. A large part of the care and treatment will therefore be based on a rehabilitative approach, where we work recovery-oriented and with maximum patient involvement. It includes tools such as cognitive environmental therapy, as well as Motivational Interviewing.

With us, professionalism, collaboration and respect are keywords – and we are interested in listening to each other’s input.

We need you who sees development opportunities and potential in being part of a ward where we are motivated by the complexity of forensic-psychiatric patient pathways and thrive with the rehabilitative and crime-prevention work with the patients.

What will your daily work and tasks look like?

You will become part of an interdisciplinary contact team and contribute among other things with your knowledge and competencies in activity-based treatment. You will handle interdisciplinary as well as monodisciplinary tasks in a contact-person role, and together with the ward’s other occupational therapists you will be responsible for planning the therapeutic assessments and interventions.

Your tasks include, among other things, the following

  • Investigate, prevent and treat functional impairments and pains related to activity and movement.
  • Contribute to identifying and strengthening the patients’ ADL functions.
  • Plan and conduct treatment activities individually and in groups.
  • Help the patient increase knowledge of their own reaction patterns and work with the patient to use and test coping strategies.
  • Convey professional and theoretical knowledge to relevant collaborators.
  • Focus on non-pharmacological measures when the patient’s mental state deteriorates.
  • Prevent lifestyle diseases by supporting patients in the KRAM factors.
  • Use targeted and individually tailored interventions to prevent loss of control in the patient as part of preventing coercion. This includes, among others, calming, non-pharmacological methods such as sensory stimulation and breathing exercises.
  • Help the patient create a better connection between body and mind through therapeutic conversations, body-therapeutic interventions and tailored activities.

Who are we?

Our vision for the ward is that we want a community where it is safe to share professional reflections and disagreements, and where the discussions contribute to new shared perspectives and high-level patient care.

A cornerstone for us in our shared work environment is also physical safety. We place high value on onboarding, supervision and training in prevention and handling of conflicts.

What is it like to be an occupational therapist with us?

  • You become part of a large monodisciplinary group at the center, where monodisciplinary sparring is highly valued.
  • Occupational therapy at the Psychiatric Center Sct. Hans is prioritized and in continuous development. It is a development you have the opportunity to participate in.
  • You play a decisive role in building activities that can structure daily life for the forensic-psychiatric patient.
  • You have the opportunity to be creative and curious about thinking solutions that enable meaningful activities.

Who are you?

As our upcoming occupational therapist, you are strong in your monodisciplinary field and succeed in facilitating your professional reflections in an interdisciplinary collaboration.

We expect that you

  • want to be part of a work community where there is room for everyone.
  • are interested in forensic psychiatry and see opportunities in the interdisciplinary collaboration on complex patient pathways.
  • are good at communicating and show respect and presence towards the patients, your colleagues and collaborators.
  • can work independently and systematically with occupational therapy assessments and interventions.
  • are able to implement meaningful activities in treatment, recovery and rehabilitation processes.

We emphasize that you have the desire and a strong commitment to this specialty, where the good tone, daily structure, good communication skills and creativity are some of the keywords.

Experience with ADL taxonomy, ASP, AMPS, MOHOST and COPM is a plus.

We also welcome psychiatric experience, but it is not a prerequisite.

Salary and employment conditions

The position involves mixed shifts, and you can expect weekend work every other weekend. Start date: December 1, 2026 or by individual agreement.

You will be employed under the agreement for non-leading occupational therapists, physiotherapists and midwives with salary placement as an occupational therapist. You are under the employment covered by the current working time agreement entered into between the Regions’ Payroll and Rate Committee and the Danish Association of Occupational Therapists.

The 24-hour ward is staffed around the clock, and you will therefore be planned with mixed shifts in accordance with the rules in the applicable working time agreement in the collective bargaining agreement.
