Estimator for Arkil's Construction Division in Greve

For Arkil A/S Moment Search & Selection is looking for an estimator who will help calculate both smaller and larger civil engineering projects on Zealand. Here you get the opportunity to combine your practical understanding of civil works with calculation and bid submission – and help find the solutions that make the difference when projects have to be won.

Put your understanding of civil engineering to use even before the project starts

At Arkil you will become part of the bid organization in Greve and will have a central role in the work of creating a solid foundation for upcoming projects.

The tasks span a wide range within infrastructure and civil works and can include, among other things, earthworks, utilities, roads, paving, gravel and disposal. Arkil offers projects in different sizes – from smaller civil works to complex projects worth several hundred million Danish kroner. Particularly projects with volume, complexity and multiple disciplines are interesting for the business.

As an estimator, your work is therefore about more than just setting prices on a bid list. You must be able to understand how the project is best executed: Which machines and resources does the task require? How should the work be planned? Which production assumptions are realistic? And where can the solutions and synergies be found that can make the bid competitive?

Your primary tasks will include, among others

• Calculation and pricing of civil engineering projects
• Review and assessment of tender material
• Determination of production assumptions, staffing, machine selection and logistics
• Obtaining and evaluating prices from suppliers and partners
• Identification of risks, opportunities and alternative solutions in the bids
• Collaboration with other estimators and specialists in areas such as asphalt, concrete and foundations
• Preparation of schedules and input to the overall bid material
• Presentation and internal review of your own calculations

You will typically work with several bids in parallel, and thoroughness is a key word. At Arkil the aim is not to calculate on as many projects as possible, but to prioritize the right bids and go into enough depth to deliver a realistic and competitive price.

Your qualifications and competencies

We imagine you have experience from the civil engineering sector and a solid understanding of how civil projects are implemented in practice. You can already work with calculation and bid submission – or you come from a role such as construction manager or project manager, where you have built up the practical understanding needed to assess resources, production, machine selection and logistics. Experience with preparing schedules and earth balance is a clear plus.

The optimal profile has both practical experience from the execution side and experience with estimation. The decisive factor is your understanding of the civil engineering processes and your ability to translate this knowledge into good and competitive solutions.

You do not need to come from one of the industry's largest companies. Experience from a smaller contracting company can be just as relevant – especially if you have had broad responsibility and have been involved in several parts of the bid process.

As a person you are curious, analytical and thorough. You like to challenge the immediate answer and are motivated to find the solution that makes a bid a bit sharper. At the same time you take responsibility for your calculations and thrive on presenting and arguing for the choices and assumptions you have made.

You must be able to read and work safely with Danish tender material. Knowledge of specific estimation systems is not decisive, since Arkil uses its own setup in Navision, and experience from other estimation systems can be transferred.

Become part of a bid organization with ambitions

You will become part of the bid team in Greve, where you work closely with experienced estimators, bid assistants and colleagues with different specialist competencies. There is a lot of professional sparring in the team, and the estimations are reviewed together before they are presented to the managers in the business.

Arkil also has clear ambitions for continued growth and aims, among other things, to strengthen its position in North Zealand and on West Zealand. This means you join an organization where bid work plays a significant role in the continued development of the business.

For the right profile the role can also offer interesting development opportunities in the longer term. The bid organization will develop over the coming years, and there may be opportunities to take on more professional or managerial responsibility – potentially toward a bid manager role.

The position is based at Arkil's office in Greve. There is flexibility in daily life, but the starting point is physical presence in the office, as ongoing professional sparring is an important part of the job.
