About the job
Do you want to help protect Denmark's digital defense? The Danish Defence Ministry’s Agency for Defence Material and Procurement (FMI) is looking for new cyber security profiles for the Cyber Division. Do you have technical insight, knowledge of security standards and a desire to work with risk management and security accreditation in critical infrastructure? Then you are the one we are looking for.
We are living in a time where cyber threats are growing and the requirements for secure and resilient IT infrastructure are higher than ever. You will play a decisive role in the digital transformation of the defence's IT systems and help ensure that our systems meet both national and international security requirements – from procurement to end-of-life.
About us
The Danish Defence Ministry’s Agency for Defence Material and Procurement (FMI) is responsible for the defence’s materiel and information systems – from tanks and ships to communications equipment and IT systems across the armed forces.
The Cyber Division is one of Denmark's most specialized units within IT security and IT operations under the defence. We ensure that the defence's systems function securely and efficiently – whether used in the Arctic, under international missions or at central offices.
You will become part of the Cyber Security Department, which works closely with top management and consists of three sections: Cyber Security Operations Center , Cyber Security Guidance and Cyber Security Risk and Accreditation . You will become part of the latter – a team of experts who advise on and integrate IT security throughout the system lifecycle.
We combine high professional expertise with an open and inclusive team culture. We believe that diverse perspectives strengthen our work, and we create room for both professional sparring and new ideas. Here you have the opportunity to develop your competencies, work closely with skilled colleagues and contribute directly to Denmark's cyber defence – with the flexibility to also work from home.
About the position
As a Technical Risk Manager you will play a key role in ensuring that all IT systems and components meet the heightened requirements for security and risk management. You will help professionalize and further develop the work with security accreditation and technical risk management – core areas in the defence's digital operations and development.
You will work in a highly specialized team where you both advise and contribute directly to processes, documentation and technical analyses. The goal is to ensure that all solutions – from IT systems to individual components – can be classified and accredited in accordance with applicable standards.
Your tasks will include
- Contribute to concrete security accreditations – e.g., system descriptions, risk assessments, security analyses and non-compliance reviews.
- Advise on technical security requirements and help interpret and concretize them.
- Contribute to the optimization and further development of accreditation processes and methods – including maintenance of guidelines and handbooks.
- Collaborate with FE and other national authorities on joint security methods.
- Educate and advise the organization in technical risk management and security accreditation.
- Prepare threat and vulnerability assessments.
- Participate in relevant IT audits and reviews.
- Prepare input for further reporting to management, steering committees and the board.
Your role – where strategy and technical expertise meet
You will have a facilitating and central role in cross-disciplinary work, where technical security assessments are translated into concrete, operational recommendations. Where you:
- Contribute to clarifying and translating technical security requirements.
- Help formulate acceptance criteria and develop future-proof solution proposals.
- Support documentation and advisory work necessary for security approvals and system classification.
About you
We imagine that you have
- An academic education with technical or IT specialization or another educational background with relevant experience.
- Experience with technical risk management, security accreditation or IT security.
- Insight into national and international standards such as ISO/IEC 27001, 27002 and 27005.
- Good collaboration skills and thrive in the role of sparring partner, advisor and process driver.
It is an advantage, but not a requirement, if you have
- Experience from a similar position – e.g., in a public authority, defence-related organization or a larger company with high compliance requirements.
- Experience with NATO's technical security standards.
You communicate clearly in Danish and English – both verbally and in writing – and convey technically complex topics clearly and purposefully to different stakeholders.
We are looking for experienced and newly educated
Whether you are a recent graduate with the right mindset and theoretical foundation – or experienced with solid practical background – we would like to hear from you. We provide a thorough introduction and training.
Why you should apply
You come close to the core task in Denmark's national cyber security and have direct influence on how we protect vital IT systems and infrastructure in an increasingly complex threat reality. The role combines technical heft with strategic importance and collaboration at the highest level – both internally and internationally.
You will have the opportunity to
- Work in a strong professional environment with great societal significance.
- Influence IT security work in practice – from strategy to implementation.
- Develop your competencies in collaboration with some of the country’s most skilled professionals in cyber and information security.
Terms of employment
Employment and remuneration are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement at any given time.
If you are an academic, you are employed under the applicable academic collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organizations for academics in the state (Academic Agreement).
If you have an IT education, office education or another relevant education, you are employed under the applicable Common Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees Organization – The Public Sector Agreement (OAO-S common agreement) and the organizational agreement for office clerks, laboratory technicians and IT employees.
Depending on your qualifications and competences, there is a possibility of negotiating supplements. There is an employer-financed pension scheme linked to the position.
Workplace is in Hvidovre
As an employee under the Defence Ministry's area, you are covered by certain special terms. You must, among other things, be security cleared and maintain the security clearance throughout the employment.
You, as an employee, are obliged to perform service outside the country’s borders, including at units in international operations for participation in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peace-building, humanitarian and other similar operations.
