About the job

Do you have psychiatric experience and want to make a difference for young people in acute psychiatric crises – also at night? We are seeking an experienced nurse for a permanent night shift position of 8-24 hours per week in our reception and intensive care unit for youths up to 18 years old.

At U1 we receive youths in acute psychiatric crises and handle both shorter stabilizing admissions and longer diagnostic courses. As a nurse on night shifts you will have an important role in creating safety, stability and care for the youths throughout the night.

A night shift with professional responsibility and presence

The department consists of four reception beds and eight intensive beds. The youths have different needs for support, observation and care, and situations can change quickly. The night shift therefore requires that you can remain calm, prioritize your tasks and act with professional reflection – also when acute situations arise.

You will become part of a multidisciplinary community where we work purposefully to ensure continuity in treatment and create the best possible framework for each youth.

Our professional approach

We work with mentalization-based environmental therapy, recovery-oriented treatment, de-escalation and prevention of coercion.

Professional relationship work is a central part of our nursing. Also at night it is important to meet the youths with clarity, care and professional curiosity. We deliberately work to create safe surroundings, support the youth's needs and prevent unrest and insecurity from developing.

Your tasks

Your tasks will among other things be to

  • provide individual nursing and case contact duties as needed
  • observe and assess the youths' psychological and somatic condition
  • support and calm youths who experience unrest, anxiety or psychiatric crisis
  • work with de-escalation and prevention of conflicts and coercion
  • support structure, predictability and safety through the night
  • collaborate with colleagues on observations, professional assessments and relevant interventions
  • ensure clear documentation and handover to day shift.

We are looking for someone who

  • is a trained nurse with valid authorization
  • has experience from psychiatry and is familiar with meeting patients in acute psychiatric crises
  • can make professional assessments and act independently in situations that require overview and calm
  • has experience with or a solid understanding of de-escalation and prevention of conflicts and coercion
  • meets youths with clarity, respect and care – even when situations are complex
  • can prioritise observations, nursing and acute actions during the night
  • actively contributes to the collaboration and ensures clear documentation and handover.

Experience from psychiatry is a requirement for the position.

We are seeking a nurse who has a solid psychiatric foundation and can translate experience into safety, professional judgments and qualified nursing for youths in acute and complex situations.

A good introduction and a strong professional community

You will receive a thorough introduction to the unit's framework, workflows and professional approach, so you are well equipped for the task as a night shift with us. The introduction will be based on your existing psychiatric competencies and provide you with solid knowledge of our practices, patient group and collaboration methods.

You will become part of a dedicated work environment where professional sparring, collegial collaboration and development of practice are highly prioritized. We place emphasis on a respectful community, where we help each other and together take responsibility for creating safe and professionally grounded environments for the youths – also at night.
