Would you like to plan and conduct practice-oriented teaching where students work with physical experiments and connect experimental work to their subject understanding? The Department of Materials and Production in Aalborg is seeking an external lecturer for a permanent part-time position with a variable scope of 0 to 120 hours per year. Start date is 15 November 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Your duties

You will have overall responsibility for preparing and delivering the teaching in the course Physical Teaching Experiments in the physics education. Parts of the course are also followed by students from the chemistry education. The position is therefore important to ensure that students encounter teaching where subject theory, experimental work and reflection on teaching are interconnected.

You plan the teaching independently and design the experiment-based activities so that they support the course's learning objectives and the students' subject development. You carry out the teaching in Danish and create a clear framework for working with experiments, observations and scholarly discussions. The amount of teaching depends on whether students choose the course and will therefore vary from year to year.

Your qualifications

You are trained as a physicist or have an equivalent relevant academic background. You have experience in conducting laboratory exercises at high school level and have insight into teaching didactics so you can translate your knowledge into teaching that is accessible, structured and academically meaningful for the students.

You communicate clearly in Danish and can create a safe and academically engaging learning environment where students are willing to work exploratively and ask questions. You work independently with the preparation of teaching and take responsibility that it is carried out with academic quality. At the same time you collaborate constructively with the other instructors on the course content and delivery.

Qualification requirements

The qualification requirement is at master's level.

Appointment as an external lecturer requires either relevant professional experience at a high level that has not been gained through a university scientific appointment or employment in a scientific full-time position at another university. When appointed on the basis of relevant professional experience, you must have in-depth, current knowledge of the applications of the subject/subject area, obtained or gained through employment in the field. Teaching qualifications are taken into account in the assessment of applicants for an external lectureship.

Salary and employment terms

You are employed and remunerated according to the regulations on the employment of scientific staff at universities and the regulations on the job structure for scientific staff at universities as well as the agreement on external lecturers and teaching assistants at universities, etc., under the Ministry of Education and Research.
